distortion and overdrive is kinda different creature..both are distorted sound but as it said, overdrive is originally come when you play with max volume greater than the amp can hold, then the sound got distorted. distortion is originally guitar effect creating distorted sound.

simple saying, overdrive is not as harsh as distortion. I don't know for sure but to get max from you tube amp, you have to play it loudly to reach the great overdrive sound.

all the amps i mentioned are 5w. blackheart has the option for 5 or 3 watts operation. just changes the headroom of the amp only.

any idea where can i get the blackheart little giant and how much?

yamaha. u'll need a cab too. total price for the head and cab on the buy/sell section usually go for abt 500bucks used. first hand i'm not too sure.

I believe during Yamaha sale the head+cab combo will cost around $450.

oh okay. I came across this vox ac15.. it seemed to have somewhat alot of good reviews... and when citymusic was on sale, it was selling at 600+... Also, there's this fender blues junior right, do anyone know how the blues jr is?

i dont find the ac15 very pedal friendly leh. the reverb was bad imo. if u want one get the one with the celestion blue speakers inside. quite a significant difference.

ACs are a love and hate affair. Dudelove is right. Doesn't take pedals very well. I like its slightly driven tone, though.

its not the speaker.. its the whole amp itself.

eh i think its pointless we all tell u what amps we like or recommend u this that. u should take some time to learn how to appreciate these amps and go try them for urself. i dont believe city music has a no testing policy or what. or at least go hear sound clips. ultimately, one mans meat can be another mans poison. so what u like personally might not be what i or anyone else like. vice versa. u should make decisions on what u like not what other ppl say.

no offence or anything lah. slowly. it took me quite some time to understand all the talk abt tube amps.

Somewhat true... because I don't know why, I'm very satisfied with the yamaha 15watt amp rather than the laney 30watts amp I bought with my telecaster... Maybe I should just buy the pod xt/live to have that kind of sound because I am not that good to use a tube amp.. in my opinion..

The Fender Frontman 25r sounds way better than any unmodded blackheart for pedals imo. excellent practice amps for home use. Volume at 3 and my room is already shaking.
