Are the Maxox really that good?

Used RP2000, Pod (line 6) ..then Bull dog dist, currently sansamp. Still cant get the warm sound. If you know what i am talking about.

Advice any one?

I have a Twin Tube Classic. To me, it serves me quite well, and though I've never tried a tube amp before, I know it's not the same. But as long as I'm happy with the tonal qualities it gives me, I'm happy. Especially when I have my TS808 before it.

I do hope to invest in a tube amp in the near future though.

the thing about tube OD/Dist pedals out there is that it seems a lot of them uses the tubes only for clipping.

I am using am EBS VavleDrive for bass. Changing the 12AX7 tube did make a difference in the sound.
