Hey all, anyone can suggest a 5-15w tube amp for home use?
Budget around 500-700+

Genres - classic/hard rock and some metal

Thanks all =)

I've tried the Vox AC15cc1

last time i went it was going for bout $750 at City Music

Really great sounding amp!

Epiphone Valve Jr or Valve Special can be considered as well.

Lastly, Blackheart? but i haven't tried it before....heard lots of gd stuff bout it though

But like wat leecs said...small speakers like the Epiphone Valve Jr Combo puts me off ^^

Whats the price of a decent 5-15w tube amp then o_O

EDIT: How about Laney VC/LC 15 how much are those?

those are around $1000+ in sweelee. IMO, ok................ only. both comes in a 10' speaker, which if you're playing hard rock & metal & you want that oomph for palm muting, it would be diffcult.

the VC 15 is good for palm muting... especially when connected thru a 4x12" cab...

LC is ok lah... for home use, good enough... cannot always judge things with your triamp as a benchmark man...

Cool man thanks for the info.
Will fender be enough for high-gain or would i need a OD pedal?

so far there is: Epi VJ, BH 5w, Fender deluxe reverb, and Laney VC/LC 15... anymore?

Eh.. actually i dunno anything about Line 6 amps :P.. but then i prefer more simple designs and i think most line 6 amps have like lots of effects in built?

How much more is the Orange TT compared to a Laney VC 15?

The Fender is definitely not enough for metal. In fact, the best for metal out there would be Mesa Boogie, Krank, Kustom, Peavey, etc but these can be quite expensive. Moreover I heard the Fender amps do not take pedals well.

you can pull off convincing metal with this Fender:

you can defitely get metal for this one but it's discontinued:

Those are nice amps :o.. i don't really know anything about peavey tube amps though.. how about a windsor? does SL stock them?

EDIT: Can i still obtain a Reverend Goblin? or a Gries 4w/5w amp? Marshall 18w Ceriatone clone? thanks all :)

i got my black heart little giant+1x12 cab last week for $567. i tried cranking it but it's too loud even at 3w. takes pedals really well though. i think it was cheaper when it first arrived in singapore.
initially i wanted to get the epiphone valve jr but that thing is too pricey for a single knob. little giant on the other hand has a 3/5w switch and even a 3 band eq(later proved to be useless). i got it from resolution audio(not sure if that's the name) at sunshine plaza, which turned out to be the last piece. heard these little monsters have to be backordered these days.maybe yamaha still has some left

and i dropped by mike's shop two days ago and tried out the biyang tube amp. it's definitely a value for money considering the 590 price tag. however, i did notice the over trebly sound, not sure if it's due to the uncovered panels.

I dun think so...........Malaysia and the Internet are the next best options. Alternatively, try the Biyang tube amp or the Sound Drive SG610R or SG100R at Mike's SV. The latter 2 are non-tube but they have an incredibly nice tubey distortion channel. Check 'em out! As for Line 6, if u dun mind reading a manual b4 starting to use them, the Spider Valve series is in stock @ City Music.........pricewise u'd better call them to check.

TyMusic at peninsula brings in lots of Ceriatone amps.... Good tube amps at good prices! You can even ask him to bring in the type of Ceriatone amps you want....
