Hi, I'm looking to order the aforementioned parts and i have a few questions.

Can i get any of them locally? barring chance second hand offers. Tremelno is avail thru allparts, but i don't see a allparts dealer from their site.

Edgepro arm for the Ibanez floating bridge. know where i can get these? lost mine recently and really need to get one. I guess my only option is to ask swee lee?

Bill Lawrence pickups. Don't mean to dig up an issue long discussed from threads long buried but I am looking for Nuno's tone. in anycase i find the dimarzio breeds in my guitar too muddy so I think these will help, no? I am probably ordering from bill and becky, is the bill lawrence USA one any different?

If i must get all 3 of these items from the states, i will probably Vpost, should be cheaper that way and i can also consider grabbing otherstuff.

The Edge Pro arm (actually the entire arm assembly) is the same as the original Edge... so that can help find you one more easily.

What guitar do you have and what wood is it made of?

The breeds are excellent pickups if you want that vintagey kind of sound but with modern punch.

oi fgl! don't anyhow send traffic to me!

Just buy from Bill and Becky and you're all good. Don't bother about the rest.

I run a Jem DBK into a pignose 3 12AX7 2 6L6 amp that's got a delta demon speaker. I do believe its the speaker that what makes the tone sound 'muddy' to me though. Does the L500 carry a higher treble response?

it does. Clear, rings like a bell and with more highs than your regular humbucker.

since when i dealt for Bill Lawrence? Never did, only did consolidation of orders for all to save on shipping. ;)

donno dats what aquanaut told me b4 ..say U had trader account with them or something like dat ... well my bad then ... ;)

Hmmm... the DBKs I've played (and heard) did not sound 'muddy'.

I thought the Breeds in that guitar, complimented it well...

What's the setup on your guitar like? Whats the pickup height distance for neck & bridge?

As for the amp, what are the settings?

Also, running different guitars into the amp - same 'muddy' response?

9 42s, running a randol modded MT2 into it. played around lots with the EQ, but doesn't seem to cut. feels muffled and fizzy. it sounds great clean but it somehow just doesn't break up much. i do believe its the speaker that's affecting it, so i might consider changing that instead of the pickup. I have tried the bill lawrence on the N4 before (though i think its the BL USA one) and i really liked it. tried with a JSX.

besides the higher treble response, what other differences should I expect if i swopped out by breed for the L500?

It could be the amp and it could be the MT2.

I don't recall MT2s, modded or what, to have like... cutting, searing lead tones.

Anyway, do think hard abt the Tremol-No. I had one and realised I just don't need it... interesting experience and exploration but that was it. Had it, sold it.

bro shreddy

why?care to give an insight?

its been a long time since I've use a FR bridge-7 years to be exact. Feel safe in a fixed bridge..hmm..with your insight..maybe just maybe..im gonna do the FR bridge again

yea, it'd be good to know whey you didn't need one, shred. cus we all know the reasons for getting it and what it does, but we hardly hear the flip side of the coin.

well i definelty need to get the arm, else my edge pro is basically useless....

I run the MT2 with a flat EQ into a Boss EQ20. its got 10 bands and i've tweaked and tweaked and its def. a lot more flexible than just the MT2 by itself, but i can't seem to get.. break up. the breakup seems to be behind something, it gets fizzy and muffled. so that's why i thought the pickup change might help.

Hahaha... I'm always the fella giving the "flip side of the coin". Its hilarious!

Anyway.

Reason for losing the Tremol-No:

1) It affects flutter. Not a biggie if you don't use flutter. Doesn't STOP flutter, just affects it - lessens the effect considerably.

2) No matter how I set it up and stuff, I always felt the T-No there. Maybe I'm being anal though because I demand absolutely unhindered trem movement. Maybe its because my trem then was a pre-'93 Edge in a recessed Ibanez route.

3) I realised that blocking my trem resulted in massive restoration of previously loss low end... and that muddied up my tone which was based on the original pedals/gain/eq settings. Unacceptable especially in a live context.

4) Blocking also resulted in a change of feel (string tension) and I really really really like my guitar to feel consistent.

5) I just didn't have a need to block or set to dive only. Heck, dive only - I don't understand how whammy vibrato can be done with that, sounds weird and feels weirder.

Something like that.

The unit is beautifully made but the end results and personal needs/preferences made the difference.

Well i'm sure a lotta people are grateful to know the flip side of some.. very well marketed products ;) any dirt pedals to recommend for thick searing tones? I could change the pickups and the speakers but i guess the pedal itself contributes most to the tone and the EQ pedal i have can make up (although not totally) for what the pickups or speakers lack right?

Well, if you like someone else's tone - then just emulate his gear first. The learning will come... or it might not come - depends on you, really.

You could take your current setup, or just your favourite drive pedals, and head down to a guitar shop, check out some amps - try bigger speakers, bigger cabs, dirt from the amp, dirt from pedal, both?, so on so forth. That could get you started.

My take on this thing - I don't want to emulate anyone, I just enjoy good sounds, good tones and I don't believe in getting a monster amp because, yes, the amp WILL kill, but my back will die if I had to carry it around to gigs/rehearsals. Not to mention the amount of worry if things get damaged or stolen. I'd get pedals and make sure that my tone/sound is consistent across different rigs.... whatever the venue provides.

Your amp is small enough to carry around, and it has 2 speaker outs (4ohm & 8ohm). So you can try with other speakers and cabs first to see what works for you.
