toughest riffs you've ever come across??

clifffs of doooover

ahh true.metal doesnt dominate everything.neither do metal bands come up with super hard riffs.bet not many local metal players can play blues.so to add on to that.id say Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson though i dont really know what genre does he fall into.blues?

It's instrumental rock. I can play it YAY!!

Blood of the scribe - Lamb of God
That chorus riff is insane!
I get so close but can never get it quite right :(

SRV - Little Wing

His take on it had so much feel my eyes can tear up just listening to it.. IMO, the toughest riffs aren't the fastest ones, but the one with the most emotion..

Peace..

I agree with what Godspeed said. You might be able to copy the whole thing in the exact technical fashion, but never be able to play it like he did.

Pride & Joy - SRV: Playing it is hard, playing it with his emotion is almost unachievable, playing it with his emotion while singing is impossible.

Bold As Love - Hendrix/John Mayer: Both are very different interpretations of the song, but sport the exact same reason mentioned above.

who are ur influences man? i'm hardcore classic rock too.

AC/DC, Cream, Mountain, Scorpion, ZZ Top for Classic Rock.
SRV, Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer for Blues.
RATM, Muse, Incubus for Alternative Rock.
The Ataris for Pop/Punk.

My stuff will tend to sound a little like here and there.. Haha..

Agree with bouncy.. John Mayer gives me the chills sometimes!:mrgreen:

i guess the hardest riffs are those riffs are riffs when u hear ur fave artist improv on a song, for instance, led zep...

Technical difficulties,im not sure if its my technique,my hand always feels sooo tired when i play it.
Most tiring riff lol.

anthem's like the slowest intro riff trivium's ever made loh...

its actually quite fun to play trivium, especially the songs which are not really heard, like light to the flies, the deceived, ascendancy all that they all have riffs which boost skill when practiced.

i learn like light to the flies, pull harder, gunshot. i think these are easier thou some parts are hard to play smoothly(for me). anthem is just @#$%#@ difficult to me. yeah i agree. but its actually training you to play fast.

Hahha i think the most learnable trivium song is dying in your arms

Anyone tried the main riff from battery - metallica?

Ah reading everyone's posts here makes me feel like a guitar loser. =( Yea learning trivium's pull harder on your strings now, the intro palm muting riff kills me after like 10 seconds lol

yep, i tried it. the intro, verse and backing riff for the solo is a series of downmuting and galloping. the only trick it is the timing for the song. very thrashy but very precise, which is what i like about metallica. nail it and you know the whole song already....im still working on it tho..

for trivium, i can say that the whole shogun album is chock full of untouchable riffings. torn between scylla and charbydis is freaking hard, and the only learnable one i find is insurrection and like callisto to a star in heaven. i find suffocating sight very very easy now since the trick is to relax the picking hand when doing those crazy gallops.

i say the toughest for me now is currently Ascendancy. the metal breakdown part is.....wah dunno what to say man lol...
