Guys,I need your opinion on this one!If u can only pick one guitar out of these 3 then which one will it be?I am stuck because I love all three of them. But can only afford for one.. The genre of music that I play are metal, rock and blues. Please enlighten me on this one! Thanks!
-Gibson les paul standard 2008
-Gibson Sg standard
-Fender hot rod vintage 57 stratocaster

They all feel very different. I know people say this all the time but you need to try for yourself. Especially in terms of neck shape and scale length. I really like SGs but can never play them, just feels weird to me.

haha seems like we've got the same target lol im currently saving for a 57 hot rod :p

Cheers man!les paul's tone is sweet but when u want to get to those upper frets then u might have a problem! As for the SG,the tone is slightly more dark or mellow!I've yet to try the hot rod on stack amp with hi gain drive!!have u tried?

the hot rod on high gain...unless u got quiet pickups, they're gonna hum the shit outta u!! btw i find SG tone brighter than an lp...body so thin walao!! lol!! so my pick for more versatility would be the lp. but u needa get used to the irritating heel though

The Hot Rod 57's very poor value for money, to be honest. You can get an American Standard, swap out the pickups for a Dimarzio Tone Zone and Areas and end up with a more usable guitar, all while spending less money.

The Hot Rod comes with Fender SCNs and a Dimarzio Tone Zone.

Yeah!Les paul are heavy!hard access to the higher frets. But the tone is killer! Guess its just down to trying out SG and LP. I was thinking of BFR. But Its too ex and I need one guitar that can drop tuning anytime. Floating bridge guitar can't really drop your tuning whenever u want. But beside these 2 guitars, are there any other guitar that can have such nice tone?maybe lighter and can have better access to higher frets for the les paul. But I heared the les paul 2008 are lighter than the usual ones!!So that's one good thing!!

1. Les Paul shaped. yes there are many,
i would vote for ESP Eclispe model. lighter, easier to access higher fret.
of 42mm nut ( feels more comfort to play than 43mm)
comes with seymour Duncan pickups..
check davis for ESP.

I thought that guitar will be better for playing metal??With SY pups or EMG?Will it sound too aggressive when playing it with a clean tone? Most of the review I read, most of them buy that guitar for metal or rock. Nevertheless,I will be heading down to davis to try it out. At the mean time and more guitars to intro?

With Seymour Duncans, almost any genre of music is possible for the Eclipse. And the clean sounds I get from my Horizon are fantastic.

Whoops my bad. Sry.

Hmmm the petrucci comes with a dive only bridge that can drop tune anytime w/o hassle. But if u want fixed bridge models u can consider the mike morton signature...its 59 pickups in there..those pickups do just abt anything u throw at it
