yea im a total newbie , hope someone free enough to teach me how to play a guitar for free .:mrgreen:

i currently have a craftsman ibanez copy with the line 6 amp i got from citymusic as a set

i only know a bit bout power chords and thats all

Try going to Ultimate-guitar.com and search for tabs of songs you like and learn to play from there.

kaiwenny, personally i dont think looking up tabs to learn guitar is good. but they are damn useful where there's a supersick solo u must learn in a day! haha.

try to go websites like justinguitar.com or use youtube!

for beginners, i'd suggest u learn these first:

gear wise
- parts of guitar
- cleaning of guitar
- restring of guitar
- tuning of guitar

sound wise
- how bass, middle & treble works in shaping the sound
- volume and tone knob

play wise
- learn some chords
- learn the notes(basically its a cycle)
- where the notes are on the fretboard
- learn the different chord shapes (CAGED)

just some things to note up there. take it easy. use it as a guide for whatyoushouldknow.

well, playing chords is the same be it acoustic or electric guitar. Thats y some ppl who wants to learn electric start from acoustic first

haha you'd be surprised how many don't think so and don't do that. plenty of people say things like, 'acoustic is just for playing chords' or 'you don't play chords with electric, you only solo ..' things along those lines. you my friend, are one of the enlightened ones.
