Too much sustain.

I'm using an Ibanez SA260FM and Peavey Envoy 110 (as reviewed on subversion's site). I have a Metal Zone MT-2 pedal. Everytime I play ANY song, I always have a lot of sustain, so I cannot hear the melody I'm playing. It's like playing piano, and holding onto the right pedal for damn long and not releasing it. How do I reduce the sustain?

I'm learning Neil Zaza's I'm Alright now and the sustain makes the song sounds bad. I want to achieve a tone like his. How do i do that?

1) Its not termed sustain... feedback more likely
2) whats the gain level on the pedal
3) Facing the amp when playing? Loud volume?
4) Any microscopic pickup issues?
5) Any other guitar to try with same amp and same pedal setting?
6) Reduce the gain level of the pedal
7) Changed pedal

Yes, trying lowering your reverb. Anyway when I had the MT-2 I had all these problems as well, MAY be your pedal :S IMO

Yip, like said already, it could be a number of things, and a combination of a number of things.

The most obvious things would be either too much reverb, or too much distortion.

Perhaps the problem is that you are using distortion in your amp AND distortion with your pedal?

Generally, when using distortion effects pedals, you would have the amp on the clean channel. This may be the problem.

Try putting the amp on clean, then using your pedal.

Alternatively, turn all potential problems to zero - turn your reverb off, your distortion off, lower your mid to zero (common cause of feedback is too much mid), turn your pedal off, and check the amp 'dry'. Then introduce each aspect mentioned above one at a time into your amp sound. This should make it obvious where the problem is.
