To Straplock... Or Not?

Just wondering what the pros and cons of straplocks are.

How many of you guys use em?

Two of my strats have straplocks on them(Dunlop), only the third one does not have it on. Im considering if i should change brand of straplocks. Just to try out others.

What others are there? and Where are they available?

So far i know:
Dunlop Straplocks-Davis,Sweelee
Schaller-not sure

What other brands are there?

Would appreciate your inut.

i use dizmarzio straplok or some lok. reason? i find them look attractive with those clips hmm

im using marvel straplok from davis.

pretty ok,except that the screws are lousy,and the thing starts to loosen after a while.when i change screw to a smaller one,i used toothpick as wood filler.then the whole thing came out with the toothpick inside!!

Dimazrio straploks are the sturdiest and strongest of the bunch. A screw, straight into the guitar body with industrail strength clip locks - which you would have difficulty un-clipping normally.
However, when you keep the guitar in a gigbag and move around, the end of the clip lock can scratch your guitar.

The schallers, nothing to hold the locking nut in place, it can come loose. Has happened to me, so no go for schallers. I'll never use them again, I'll never recommend them.

Dunlops have not failed me but require lubrication once in a while so they remain smooth & noiseless. Otherwise, the 4 ball bearings holded the guitar in place actually scares me.

I now use oversized strap buttons, same as John Suhr, courtesy of Malcolm, and i don't remove my leather strap. No more headache.

Hmm. Dimarzio straplocks are good as what Shredcow says. I bought 2 when im in Thailand. 1 is in use now, & 1 is unopened.

heyy, i use those planet waves straps which have this plastic locking machenism... noting happened so far, so that's good...

the best thing bout them is they're cheap (around less than $20) and no need to screw and unscrew ur original pins on ur guitar...

I have not used any straplock devices before. But i will definitely use one on my expensive guitars. DiMarzio's straplock will be my choice if i'm getting one :rock:

Pros - If you like to swing your guitars around like Soasin's guitarist, please use one.

Cons - None for me.

arent the dimarzios called cliplocks? i hate those things. the clip scratches your guitar a lot, and its really slippery. the strap also doesnt hold its position well, always gets longer every time i play it.
