Hi guys ive read some posts whereby they use wd40 , and all sorts of stuff to clean of /wipe of the rust on the strings/fretboard.....i have brasso at home can i wipe it on my esp ltd m-50??

Aiyo dont get the messy stuff on the body bro. Why dont you get a normal string cleaner?

Isn't brasso for polish?

Yeah Brasso is for polish.....with WD40, well you can get rust out of the strings but it wont do justice for your sound and the fretboard.

Best is to change the set of strings.....as strings rust your sound will become dull and not to mention if you got a cut from playing a rusty string is a hazard to you.A fresh set of strings gives a clear bright sound full of colors and clarity.
If you use WD40 its main application is to repel water thus preventing rust.(WD40 means Water Displacement 40th attempt)...and if it gets to your fretboard, the fretboard will become dry which is not good.
For those rosewood fretboard the lemon oil should be applied once a month at least to protect and proper care.

Hope this helps...;)

try and use string cleaner after u play your guitar..
it will help a bit..
i use ghs string cleaner..

strings would get rusty inevitably, it's only a matter of delaying this occurrence. you'd do well to invest in a string cleaner, when the time comes, simply change strings.

How much does a pack of strings cost? change them once every 2 weeks. it's only 16 bucks per month. Seriously.

and string cleaner just makes the string feel better to play. The brightness and the clarity is not and will never be restored.

Can u guys recommend me the best string(brand) for me to apply , but affordable...?? Is it ernie ball?? or DR or Da addario??i heard d addario rust fast....

There is no "best" man..
It's all personal opinion..
I personally like DR's Tite Fit strings.. Bright bright tone..
Curt Mangan ones too..

Like the member above mention its individual preference.....i have tried a lot of different brands and models over the years.Only like back in '97 i settled for the one i use till today.
Dont always believe what you hear as its personal style and hygiene. If you sweat easily and do not wipe after use no matter what brand you use it will still rust. Its the nature of metals....

Good luck in finding one that suites you.;)

tried from ernie ball and d'addario but curt mangan was best.dude you gotta stuff out.i didnt know all this without trying.

go for operation to remove the sweat glands that cause sweaty palms. on that u save tonnes of money on strings for not rusting. trust me it's expensive but u help other things too, like prevent embarrassment shaking hands with others etc. i did it, really helped a lot.

NOT! haha! i just have non-sweaty palms so my string can last up to a year without being too rusty. but normally i change after 2months, although they are dead, but they're not rusty.
