well, slapping is fun!i mean, how many bassists will quit if ther's a law which bans slapping (<-retardation intended)...

yeah slapping is fun,but do you know the requirement of slapping, your left hand must be strong and agile, the finger must be disciplined in the first place.....so you kinda need to get used to the fingerstyle for quite sometime then you try to do the slapping thingy, will work better imo, just my 2 cents

Can slap cannot make music also no use.
Quite dumb an idea to ban slapping though. hahaha.
hmm let ur fingers do the funk :d

Something i realise about new bassist when they try to slap and pop is that, they slap first, than put their finger in to pop. actually the slaping and poping should be in one motion. while u wack ur string with ur thumb u should get ur finger in there already and prepare to pop, in one motion. Doing it in 2 motions makes u waste energy and when trying to do it in 8 notes makes u run ur timing most of the time. And please dont slap with your wrist when u start use ur elbow as ur pivot and just wack ur strings, your neck wont break. Doing so will give u a better and much fatter tone than using ur wrist which doesnt have much strength at first. go to youtube and search out larry graham watch his introduction video for a nice and clear example of slapping and popping.

I don't think many bassists will quit if they ban slapping, we'll just make alot of noise about it. But at the end of the day, bass playing comes down to being able to hold down the perfect groove and playing in the pocket.

but isnt it harder to slap fast when u use ur whole elbow? or isit just me..anyways,i feel to be able to 'funkifize' with fingerstyle is much more impt than slapping
