SINGAPORE: Thousands of fans turned up on opening night at Baybeats, one of the biggest indie music festival in Singapore on Friday.

This is awesome, Singapore music getting some attention. But it would be nicer if it were featured on The New Paper instead of some sodomizing piece of crap or some really redundant news.

I'd still prefer the scene underground during the days like Licensed to Revolution or Idiosyncrasy gig at Lasalle, Skafest at youth park.... FREAK.... That was few years back... aye.....

Aye. We shall speak to the organisers to hold Baybeats in basement carparks.

i dont see it as a negative thing.
proves the masses wrong. those who say "singapore music cannot make it". those are the people who think anything in sg cannot make it btw

I was there on opening night and managed to catch a few performances. For me, the standout band was PeepShow; they were rather outstanding.

i too was there on the first night, and the next two days haha. The first night was awesome, Peepshow, Force Vomit, Leeson, Vertical rush and Typecast rocked. i smiled in my sleep haha

Thousands of fans turning up is one thing. The respect that they show to each other is another. Throwing water, light sticks, bottles, stones is damn disrespectful imo (and it hurts). :(

^ Don't be at a rock show if you can't tolerate those things. There're always disrespectful people in the rock community and such. If you want an orderly show and respectful one, go to a funeral.

Not that I think it's good to disrespect musicians, but to complain every bit about people's character at shows, then you shouldn't be there. And I think Singapore needs an Axl Rose to kill off these disrespectful spectators.

Sorry, but I agree with K182 on this. Not all rock audiences are like this, and the reason some of them are is because some folks somehow think it is part of the package. It's not.

AEnimic: There are people in the crowd who just want to enjoy the music. And others that are just looking for trouble. I got elbowed in my back, my friends got trampled on and a mutt threw a fist at my friend's head and tried to pick a fight with him for no reason.

biopromax: If it hits your head. :\

It is part of the package whether you like it or not these a$$holes are always there to ruin your great show experience.
