Don´t know why but i love that retro style band. The warm sound of their distortion sweet to my ears man. However, do any one know what effects or pickups they use? Thanks.

The Strokes is a couple of rich boys who paid a producer good money to make them sound like a punk/ New Wave band from NYC in the late 70's. Much of the sounds are tweaked in the studios (at least, for Is This It?) rather than specific equipment to sound lo-fi.

But in any case, in 2001, both guitarists were using the Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde (v 1.0)

Yeah, Julian Casablancas' (gotta love the family name) dad owns the Ford modelling agency in NYC. Good stuff...

"my dad owns elite model agency"

wonder why he decided to dabble in a band instead of just taking over his dad's work. blessed man.

I preferred their first album, where by the sound is much more vintage than modern. Yup...

I've only the 1st album. Ahem, interesting cover. Prolly, the model talent on the cover came fro free. Heh.

The whole vintage sound is rather fake but still interesting. I think the embryo has some tales to share about 'em eh?

But though their entire career (okay, at least the 1st album) is based on Television, I feel that they do it better than Television.
