if i remember the serial number correctly, it puts it at a '93-'94 model.

Just bought a MIJ ST-62 TX and I must say I love that vintage sound it gives, the texas special pickups, they are damn warm and sweet. They are pretty responisve to picking attacks, which i really like. Btw anyone here like the out of phase pickup sounds (ie btw bridge and middle; btw neck and middle). I kinda dig it, like the tonal blend it gives, esp btw the bridge and middle.

My p.o.v. is, go for the alder/ash ones. If you really want a strat tone, why settle for less? Curb that temptation, save up a few months more and voila!

the ST72 is a good guitar. despite any hardware replacements, this guitar should be a good consideration for Strat hunters.

i only wished japan would release a newer model thats more period correct with an ash body, rather than the basswood it is.

this model at www.mijfenders.com - natural ash. wish this st71 was around more often.

im a strat lover myself...

to me a strat far surpass the les paul and prs type of guitar. have always played a strat and always will though i have some other type of guitars.. its simple and the simple the setup, the faster the music starts... heehee :lol:

Not really a strat lover, but I once hold on to a strat(didn't notice about the model) at SL, and oh my, the maple neck is something i never touch before that time, the strings are so easy to press, smooth neck, tonewise no idea( just grab down and touch for a while..)

This feeling I didnt got back yet after several strats I encounter after that. Damn should have taken down the model number.. Stupid me.

Some qns for strat users, recently got a MIJ strat, changed the strings from stock 9s to 10s, and found that my bridge starts to float. Is that normal?
