The Singapore Football Scene Thread

I read yesterday that Robbo is still new and does not know his team very well. Hope he picks a wrong side against Singapore. Should we win, that should restore some fans' faith in the Lions. 8)

Terrible 1st half.
At least we threatened in the 2nd half, but the Thais were too strong.

What happened that led to their penalty?

Our penalty was just comical. Their keeper .

Best part was some of the crowd was leaving and stopped when we had the penalty. And left after we scored.

FT Singapore 1 Thailand 3

A very disappointing performance by the Lions. Easily giving the ball away and their performance was a far cry from the previous matches. When the Thais said before the game that they were gonna keep possession of the ball, they did exactly just that and steam rollered all over us. We played long balls which were ineffective. But I didn't like some of the Thai players going down to the ground too easily, gosh. And when we were 3 goals down, most of the S'pore fans start to leave and after a while, we got a penalty. Those S'pore fans who left actually stopped to watch the penalty being taken and when we scored, they continued to leave. Hypocrites.

If the Lions play like this next week in Bangkok, I cannot imagine what will happen. I just hope the Lions can get their act together and think about new tactics for the Bangkok game in 4 days time.

Anyway on a happier note, had a great time with fgl, his 2 kakis and mockingbird. After the match, me, fgl and mockingbird lepak at the mama shop discussing about sports and guitar gear stuff ;P

Good Luck, Lions. They'll need it.

Np,mockingbird, hope u enjoyed the outing yday even though the result was not we expected. Oh yah, FGL belanja us all, to sum it up...he's da man :)

NAS is suspended from playing in the return match at Bangkok. I wonder who will partner with Duric now..Dickson? ISD? I hope Raddy comes up with a perfect plan..we r gonna need a miracle to win there..

Aiyah dudes drinks & makan no prob lah small matter ..

I was really dissapointed in Sg's performance .... WHOLESALE WASHOUT

tHe anohneh ref also didnt have a good game ... shud commit harakiri

Thai deserved the win....

Which brings us back to SG players comments about wanting support ... no wonder ppl dowan support when they put up such a horrible performance

The only good thing I cud thinkof is that it didnt rain and at least got to meet mockingbird 1sr time & to see bro Faizal again ...

ya FGL ..lions like go "lembek" already ...cant even hold the ball in midfield ..
defence not good too, strange this time round u din mention the word kelong ..haha..
who knows may be this bad results might do us good in thailand ..
lions roar not meow :)

Go Lions Go!!!!!!!!!! Too bad its not shown on Chn 5 live but there will be a delayed telecast at around 11plus if I remember correctly...I hope Khairul Amri can score that super goal that he did against the Thais at their home ground during our last ASEAN Cup championship run.

I watched the game - Lions played well & hounded the Thais for every ball.

Still a few difficiencies in defence & if the Thai forwards were more accuate - it could have been the other way around

Khairul Amri was a livewire but is somewhat of a diver and shud have passed sometimes instead of trying to shoot

Apart from that -

WELL DONE LIONS!

The result from yesterday...

Jordan 1 Iran 0

The table standings after the match yday..

Team GP W D L GF GA +/- Pts
I.R. IRAN 4 2 1 1 7 1 6 7
SINGAPORE 4 2 0 2 4 10 -6 6
THAILAND 4 1 2 1 3 2 1 5
JORDAN 4 1 1 2 2 3 -1 4

And suddenly Jordan look like they are in contention for qualification. So its all blown open now. And Iran would want to avenge their Jordan defeat and take on their frustrations on the Lions come this Jan.

Very tight..anything can happen.

SG Vs Iran match will be on Jan 6th 2010, either at Bishan Stadium or Kallang Stadium. I'm so looking forward to this match. A win will boost our chances of going into the promised land. I heard, so far for all of Iran's away matches, they had not even scored a single away goal yet. That should tell u something about Iran's performances away from home :P
