The problem with local music

you missed out mei li and gopal haha.

anyway, on topic, i have to agree with markdrumsyou. some bands at baybeats this year were disappointingly bad, sigh. maybe im too critical.

but for your second point, don't you think that support for those bands won't last? the audience aren't deaf. bad music is bad music

that is hype dying down lah...

but every once in a while there will be one good, solid band that comes around

and the saddest part is that they fade out not because of anything to do with music...

but because they got day jobs

well... if they weren't deaf, they wouldn't be supporting these kinda bands in the first place. You see, in this kinda situation, it's no longer the music that is first priority, but rather, looking cool, hanging out and acting like a rock star during and after gigs becomes the main priority. Hence, supporting and hanging out with a band who looks good but sounds bad would allow them to achieve their cheap goal of seeking attention.

yeah, i get you. but my point is that in time, these people will realise that the music is shitty. and such shitty bands are easily replaceable, another 'cool' band will come along. anyway, no one decent would give a damn about people like them. listening to shitty music is not cool. let them wallow in their shit hole for all they want

we are really talking about chickens and eggs right?

I mean back then, some people would think that Howling Wolf was the real deal and Led Zeppelin were noise.

I say to each their own. Some like music this way, some like it the other way.

Its more important to encourage diversity than to bicker about what's good, what's not. Let the voices who want to sound out, sound out, and if there is an audience, there is an audience.

Much better than just having ONE big super popular, everyone agree is damn solid kind of band, but than realise you don't have other stations to tune to when you want some variety.

i quite liked Midnight Marvel because what they are playing is slightly different from the rest that are playing, in my own definition, bluesly kind of garage rock?

Music is in the ears of the beholder....

Regardless of race, language or religion.... and nationality.
