The official MetallicA thread.

bwahahahah..

I am yet to see any metallica influence in trivium. sounds like james? wtf, sounds like a cat chocking on a hairball.

And I have yet to see a band better than Metallica :). Sure there are plenty of guys who are better technically at their instruments. But pure songwriting, power...nope.

I originally posted this in the "Guitar People" section. I've reposted it here for those who (always/still) love them:

"I'm sure there's quite a handful of Metallica fans out there.
So here's a head-up to something i find really significant and special...

There's a free mp3 concert download of them performing in Hammersmith, London on 21st Sept 86 during their Europe leg of Damage Inc Tour. I'm not too sure if its the last Cliff performed with them before his death, which is a little more than a week later...

Cliff had solo spot during this concert. And during the same gig also, Hetfield had a broken arm so his part was played by Metallica's roadie. So if you are interested, here's the link: http://www.livemetallica.com/vault/

The quality is not that great, but the performance more than make up for it. Load also the 87 Sweden gig, with Jason. The 94 NY gig, with Jason on vocals for "Seek and Destroy". And lastly the 2003 Orlando gig with Truijilo..."

Not really a metallica fan.... but must give credit to them... i wun not have taken up guitar seriously if not for them .... my frens all played metallica song in Jc... and i went from 4 chords song to "One"...DARKNESS IMPRISONS ME!!

they were some rumours saying that hetfield was playing the solo..
nt sure how true..but if u hear the guitars carefully u can easily tell. hammett is addicted to wah. lol.

It's the 21st Anniversary since the passing of Metallica's prominent bassist,Cliff Burton.

RIP Cliff Burton.

Metallica...the first time I heard them was the Justice album.
That album simply blew me away!!

The growl from Hetfield, the tight rhythm guitar, the dry snare and wicked double pedal of Ulrich and Hammett's solo...made me pick up guitar playing (especially when I heard one of my senior school mate did the intro of Blackened on an acoustic!! Blew me away that time!)

Borrowed the Puppets album from a friend (those Indonesia pirate version).Wow! Harder and heavier! Then Ride The Lightning..which I felt was a tad lower than Puppets...but who never tried to play Fade To Black on their tong guitars!

Kill 'em All was one album I couldn't dig so much. Maybe they sounded too raw for me back then.

Black album..a commercial success though many die hard find it abit soft. But I like the cleaner production by Bob Rock. At least can hear Newsted's bass!

Then Load and Reload..good hard rock albums per se (though not in the true veins of classic Metallica) I tried hard to like 'em but well..even Megadeth had 'Risk' and 'Cryptic' to play on the mellower side.

St.Anger..no solo and tin drumming. Heard that they supposedly went back to their roots but felt very cheated when I heard the whole album.

I heard the New Song. Must say that I don't quite dig the muddled sound of James guitar. Prefer his Black or Justice tone better.

Let hope for good things for the new album!
