THE FOOTBALL THREAD Vol 2

Lets wait and see what happens during Arsenal and Man Utd match. haha. later got pizza fight again. LOL.

I think both man utd and arsenal have an equal chance of winning the match(Im a man utd fan), it will boil down to the team played, and the form of the players. Im counting on rooney/tevez/nani/ronaldo to produce another bizzare episode. haha.

usually when a team misses 2 OPEN GOALS, they deserve to lose. missing an open goal is the epitome of wastefulness. let alone 2. but anyway a point, as they say nowadays, is 'positive'.

but i was still left unhappy and frustrated. it was the first time i saw liverpool play a dutch 4-3-3. they had a dutch winger on the bench who stayed on the bench the whole night. peter crouch had a point to prove, he looked really hungry to be on the pitch (though he takes SO long to put on his shinpads). if he had started maybe gerrard wouldnt have attempted so many hollywood long passes to him. it got frustrating real fast.

as for arsenal

SCREW ARSENAL LAH

but in the end you could say that liverpool didn't deserve to win, while arsenal didn't deserve to lose. so it was a draw.

a great match that was. and it also proves that they equal anyway. im not on any sides. ha. but i was expecting arsenal to win after looking at how they were doin in the first half. anyway yea.yet another great match coming up. ha.

arsenal are tried and tested after playing a second rate, beaten to death liverpool team?? oh please.. thats as ridiculous as when people were saying liverpool were gonna win this season after their impressive but short lived start. But i do admit i like arsenal's attacking football. Manu just does it better

I see you mean second rate when there's Babel,Torres, Voronin, Kuyt,Steven G,Xabi A,crouch,,etc etc....I think most of them are first teamers..and lets not discount the amount of money spent on some of them.

For Arsenal, the main strikers RVP and Eduardo were not playing. And lets put form aside as this was an important match for both with alot to prove for both sides, and oh yeah, this was at anfield if im not wrong.

A 2nd rate team is the team that went to anfield and came back as 6-3 winners.

heh i meant second rate as in fitness and form wise, pool was 2nd rate. torres was nowhere near his full fitness, hyypia has gone retarded, gerrard before the match hadnt been at his best, crouch is pathetic to me, pennant wont be around for a long time.. yup

Oic, heheh, yeah have to agree wif you about the fitness maybe, cos Arsenal had one more day to rest from the Champs league.

Overall, Liverpool was still dangerous whenever they attacked, which should be a bad thing for other teams.

Arsenal will really have their work cut out on Saturday.

Gallas - Anfield display will have made rivals afraid
Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
Barclays Premier League
Anfield
Sun, Oct 28, 2007, 4pm

By Richard Clarke

William Gallas believes Arsenal’s performance at Anfield on Sunday will have scared their title rivals.

Arsène Wenger’s side fell behind after seven minutes when Steven Gerrard fired home a free-kick but their response was excellent and they fully deserved their equaliser by Cesc Fabregas 10 minutes from time.

"I think we showed everybody we can fight for the title,” said Gallas afterwards. “A lot of people wanted to see how Arsenal would react against a big team like Liverpool and I think we reacted very well. Maybe we can be disappointed because we didn't win.

"Everybody will have been watching this game in front of their TV and [now] a lot of teams will be afraid of Arsenal.

“We had not lost a game and we had just won 7-0. That can help you a lot. Liverpool were maybe a little bit afraid of us and a lot of top teams will be afraid of us again. We showed we can play well, we can score at any time and we can handle the physical game as well.

“We deserved to take the three points but I think the one point is very important. A lot of teams will lose at Liverpool so in the end one point is good for us. We played very well and had a good mentality. We fought all the time. We did not give up.”

Arsenal are still unbeaten in the Premier League and lead the table only on goals scored from Manchester United — albeit with a game in hand. However Gallas sees it as more than a two-horse race.

"For me, it will be very difficult to win the title,” he said. “There are three or four teams who can win the title. Man United will be one of them but you have another team in Chelsea. We have to think about them as well because they won 6-0 against Manchester City at the weekend."

*raises eyebrow*

to reiterate the point....

BOTH teams are still undefeated
BOTH teams are still title contenders (though i must say, for liverpool, it'll be hard)
Liverpool still have one game in hand (they better not screw up!)
10 games just past. you cant really decide who's gonna win the title in 10 games (unless it's the scottish league)
Rafa wont be that to-Jol. Rafa is too good compared to to-Jol.
Liverpool = Leeds? please la....

let's just see how well arsenal can fare against man u, shall we? :)

in response to that football365 article, football editorials are almost always heavily biased and based on distorted interpretations of facts. look no further than the new paper's barrel of monkeys led by tohari paijan to prove my point.

some people forget the fact that 2 seasons ago liverpool did not even qualify for the champions league. and last season at this stage of the season we couldn't even win away from home. for heaven's sake, we drew the first game of the season thanks to a robbie fowler penalty. this season (so far) just because the team is not enjoying the blind luck of manure and arsenull people are making noise. maybe they would have preferred to be in the gerrard houllier era where the team played disgusting tactics, won useless trophies, signed useless players and was basically going nowhere. rafa brings progress. as long as there is still progress he is still the man for liverpool

edit: oh yah and just to clarify i don't hate AFC, just like how i don't hate Man City FC. both deserve their position in the league and probably got the same chances of winning it

shinobi: about to be pwned? ay, chill bro. i'm just pointing out, even hardcore liverpool fans have problems with rafa's rotation system. my fren, die-hard reds fan, but after the match against marseille, he was just speechless with rafa... opinions, tt's all. i'm just here to stir [manure]

fgl: btw, not a spurs fan, lucky for me. that fella was iversEn. and i'm a fan of... any club that can whup man U's behind. hence, this weekend i'm an arsenal fan =)

oh yea, and just to clarify, i dun hate liverpool. in fact, i'm gonna be their biggest fan when they play man yoo.

iverson, careful what your answer to that is, looks like you are about to be PWNED

iverson, dont worry - Im an ARSENAL FAN supporter ...straight forward type unlike others ...

join us fellow anti Man u bbrothers in this weekend's blood letting at the Emirates.

My turn to clarify: I HATE ALL OTHER TEAMS EXCEPT ARSENAL... and maybe S'pore Natioonal team - for patriotic reasons only: (told you I'm straight forward).
