It's time to reveal the Gunners' Greatest 50 Goals - as voted for by Arsenal's fans.

"Thomas, charging through the midfield... it's up for grabs now... Thomas, right at the end!"

It's been 20 years since commentator Brian Moore described the thrilling climax to the 1988/89 season and Arsenal fans know the words off by heart. And no wonder. Football just does not get more dramatic than it did on that famous night at Anfield.

Michael Thomas' goal is surely the most famous in Arsenal's history but, with other factors to take into account, it had to settle for No 6 in our poll when the fans had their say.

The story doesn't really need re-telling but here goes anyway. Arsenal had to win by two clear goals to snatch the title from Liverpool - a feat few thought possible at the 1980s fortress which was Anfield. Alan Smith's glancing header gave Arsenal hope but, as the game entered stoppage time, George Graham's valiant team looked like missing out.

Then it happened. John Lukic threw the ball out to Lee Dixon, his raking pass found Smith and he in turn found Thomas. A fortunate bounce off Steve Nicol left Thomas clear on goal and, as the Liverpool defenders converged on him, the midfielder flicked the ball past Bruce Grobbelaar.
Spine-tingling stuff.

I fully agree..even though I'm a Liverpool supporter, they should have shown respect to the Lions. Club vs country is just plain wrong..
