The Exorcism of Emily Rose- Spirituality on trial...

Hi. just wanna share my thought on this movie. For some reasons i thought that this film would be as scary as "the exorcist". however it did not turn out to be. 2/3 of the film were mostly focused on the courtroom battle. The only scene which i thought was scary was this scene where the girl's boyfriend woke up and saw emily lying on the cold hard floor, with a tortured expression and her body seemed to be jerking and stiff at the same time. anyway i think jennifer carpenter did her role as emily very well. overall ill give this movie a 2/5. should haf watched that thai flick tom yum goong instead. haha. sawadika.

You probably thought that this would be another 'scare the crap out of you' kind of movie, lol. But it's not. It's more like a battle between science and spirituality. Logic vs the unexplained. Oh well, to each his own opinion :D Tom yum goong? The title makes me hungry.. Mmmm :smt110

On the contrary, I do think it IS a "scare the crap outta you" movie. Just that it made use of suspense and tension, rather than good-old-fashioned face-at-the-window-glood-gore-and-guts horror.

And then of course, there was the scene in the barn. The one with the exorcism attempt on All Hallow's Eve. 8O

Some parts of the movie were more like a comedy though, like when the prosecution went "DO NOT BELIEVE HIM." with the weird finger motion. Everyone in the theatre laughed their asses off.

i got 3 clips of real ideo footage of a girl possessed in brunei.,,
how did you get it???
coolies.

I think... THINK. My friend told me that when there's possession cases (this probably applies to christianity i guess), the church laws says that the event must not be told to anyone else except those involved in it.
:?

You know... details of a possesion isn't something you want to gladly share to others.. obvious reasons include protecting the formerly-possessed (or still possessed) identity.

Also, a possesion case isn't a nice thing to watch/hear happening. Granted, a lot of the Hollywood movies blow up what happens... but some are real. Can you imagine someone you know, got possessed and when he speaks, its a totally different voice? Or behaving as a different individual, one that is demonic in nature?

Anyway, we Christians are not called to be ghostbusters per se, but rather to evangelise to the masses. I do not see any reason which the Church should bring to light these demonic cases as it will do little to further our purpose.

if one wants to make a movie based on demonic possessions, they must first seek the permission right?
i mean, there's a movie which was "based on true story" and the producers didn't ask permission to use the story, the cast and crew died except for one actress.
as i heard.
?

and i have 2 books on exorcism.
its more of whther u believe or not.
some doctors knows when or not is the victim's problems beyond psychological means.

Yeah. For example. If they used anneliese michel's name for the film, they have to pay her family. They can simply change the character's name to emily rose and say its based on a true story, which is anneliese's story, then they dont have to pay Anneliese's family.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Posession/Excorcism is not only a Christian-related thing. It can be seen in almost all religions. However, the poor victims will get no sympathy from people who can base their bizzare incidents on science, people like me  You will see what you want to see and believe what you want to believe. If nobody taught you about demons, the devil, and the afterlife then you would never face such things.

not sure, but think you're talking about Poltergeist.

2 of the young actress that acted in Poltergeist did died after working on the movie. One got strangled by her boy friend in the same year as the movie was completed . The other young actress died 6 years later of intestinal problems.

Only 2 persons died , not all the cast and crew as Steven Spielberg wrote the screenplay for that movie .

well, we all don't know.

since all that info, true or false, comes from the net.

but poltergeist scared quite a substantial amt of shite out of me.

nono...
i think it was the excorcist..
or some never released movie?
ah heck!

should i watch excorcist at this age or when i become an adult?
sheeesh.
