whatever reasons the manufacturer have for discontinuing the SUB offerings, they did it because they are business entities. if it doesn't make financial sense to keep it in production, it's suicidal. i respect them for doing so. it's business after all.
Fender is arguably the manufacturer who are the most dedicated when it comes to quality economics; they have their Highway1 to prove it. till this day, this series is kept alive & refined. their success is partially due to the brand name goodwill- 'Fender' is appeal per se, whatever manifestation it entails into, it's another story.
i see the SUB1 guitars to be direct competitors to the H1 series; this isn't an effort to promote production philosophy but manufacturers who indulge in cost cutting measures in the satin finish guitar body domain, are virtually aiming at the same target with similar ammo. if there are issues with your ammo- production finances included- your impact is affected hence the survival matters.
