The best brand of strings for bending?

try lower gauge strings like .008 instead of .009. no brand in particular. alternatively, you can get a short scale guitar.

I've personally tried Yamaha strings, GHS strings and Curt Mangan strings, both for acoustics and electrics. They are quite good and doesn't rust as fast as D'addarios. For bending, I think they are good.

scale length has a more obvious effect on tension than brand. Even though different brands, different gauge, way of stringing, technique all play some part in it, end of the day, the scale length has a bigger effect, considering that the strings run across/stretch over the whole lengh of the neck to the bridge.

to ask bout best strings for bending, is like asking what is the best car to travel far. Which prolly aint going anywhere at all.

imho

TBH. It all depends on the strength of your fingers. After much practice, 10 or 11s will feel like 9s. I find that the strings effect the sound more (when played clean) so its a matter of what kinda sound you like. If you just started, play 9s. If you've been playing for a while, try 10s. Then go back to 9's and you'll feel the difference.

Yeaps it's about the scale length and string gauge. Well, also technique is important too, of course. Brands will have less difference to it.

problem with low gauge strings is that they have a higher tendency to buzz. however, cannot hear through the amp means its alright :)!

Heh, this was something that I pondered upon before.

I love to bend my strings.
I use gauge 10s. and I am unwilling to lower the gauge, because .09s sound too thin to me, .11s sound great but I have a hard time bending them.

So naturally, what I'm after are some brand/type of gauge .10s that are easier to bend as compared to other gauge .10s.

And the answer to my problem was pure nickel strings. There are quite a few brands that offer pure nickel strings, try them out. You'd be pleasantly surprised, they retain the projection and 'thickness' of .10s but they are significantly easier to bend. Don't take my word for it, go try them out for yourself.

Among my favourites are the DR Pure Blues and GHS Burnished Pure Nickels.
I've heard great things about the Pyramids and the Snake Oil but haven't had an opportunity to try them out. I wonder if SV has those Pyramids, if they do I'd pick up a few packs soon.

And of course, in addition to being easier to bend, they have this sweet, warm, 'vintage-gy' tone that is to die for. Yum..

A little disclaimer; we are just talking about strings here. There are plenty of other factors that affect the ease of bending. From something as ambiguous as your finger-strength and technique to specifics like the scale-length etc.

So, just factor everything in and find the right combination for your musical needs.
Hope this helps. (:

Same here man...
hehehe
:)

I believe in action play a part too.. I playing with my greco.. Extermely low action without fret buzz.. But too low.. When I bend.. I will tend to touch other string.. I do play around.. Sometimes 9's.. sometimes 10's.. 10's is the best.. But 11's is what i wan to try but i jus can find enrie ball with that gauge around..

^ that refers to your own technique/preference actually. some people find it easier to bend on guitars with higher action and vice versa. however, after finding your preferred set up, you have to deal with the problem now that is currently at hand haha.

I believe you're trying to say, too low action, the harder it is to bend. Raise the action a little it'll be easier.
