Yamaha basses generally are of a rather high standard, and they're quite consistent when it comes to quality.

how much did you get it for? i tried a vintage one (68) before and it sounds remarkably like a p. but smaller.

it's a swap. my dad has been keeping my Music Man SUB bass, i decided to keep his Mustang 8)

it sounds kinda restrained (volume wise), a little brighter than a full-scale P-bass which is what i like.
