That's gay!!!

Are you sure all the members of the bands that are playing at this show are not homophobes to begin with? And the fact that so much emphasis is put on being gay is basically singling out being homosexuals as something out of the ordinary - is that not the basis of homophobia?

....and in anycase heterosexuals gig goers who do cross-dress for the gig will be doing so not with respect for homosexuals but, will be taking it as a joke.Along with the expected behaviour of these gig goers wouldnt that in turn be making fun of homosexuals instead of battling homopbhobia?

homosexuals are people with sexual preferences to those of the same gender not every homesexuals dresses up as the opposite gender and not every person who dresses as the oppsite gender is a homosexual. How can you generalize a sexual preference according to the way the person dresses. Not every homosexual man has wisty voice and walk with a sway. Not every homosexual women binds her chest and chop of her hair.So dont assume a homosexual man is weak and vulnerable, and dont assume every homosexual women has lost the essence of being female.Sometime you cannot tell a straight person from a gay so do not stereotype and single out this group of people just because you think they are different from any other one of us.

............ so think about it. F**K HOMOPHOBIA!!! and have fun!

Taken from a posting I came across on lioncitydiy.com, organizers or anyone care to comment?

Because the information & message getting across to me from the gig poster seems like the organizers (and bands?) are making fun of homosexuals.

Putting across the wrong message may confuse kids more and next time we might have gigs "making fun" of the blind, crippled, autistic, aged (add your choice of handicap here)... in short people who are different from us "healthy & normal folks".

i really don't think they had any intention to make fun of homosexuals. cross dressing does not make one homosexual. its just the wrong usage of the word gay coupled with someone who got too sensitive

well i guess the organisers don't really care much for the gay community in the first place to consider them as a potential demographic.

..whatever makes it more eye-catching, right?

/threadshitting

edit: petitioning to change gig name to it's pretty trans!!!!

yup i'm aware of the very interesting issues brought up by our diy friends. if anyone has a problem or would like me to clarify about anything, do come up to us during the show. and if u really must know, i'm not entirely straight either. so i dont see the point in offending homos or bis. i dont even see the point in all the hatred towards homophobics. just like how there ARE homos who HATE heteros with passion.

-shrugs-

everyone has preference :P we got no right to tell people who to like or hate. not unless they learn to know one another. and prettig is not self-righteous. so yeah. we dont wanna act all ''offensive'' or ''defensive''. this is a music scene, it aint no court of law.

people who know us know we dont belong in any particular subgenre scene anyway :)

thats just how we roll, ya dig?

well, controversies aside...
i just can't wait to see the boys in skirts and sundresses!!

Gawdd! how do u dress like a man?

will be kickass lah this one

i know if i see emg-rocks in a skirt i'll go blind....and probably convulse and have an aneurysm all at the same time. :D see you there bro!
