I am happy to see this post... I wanted to get a Monome earlier this year but thought about the open source programming and got daunted. Then Tenori-on came out, hefty price but worthy toy... but only release in UK so far. But I am writing to the inventor to ask him if he is willing to sell me one and I'll gig with it like a promotion haha you think he'll say yes? Hmmmm

The Monome comes in different sizes too. It's pretty good as a step sequencer.

yes, but it can do alot more than step sequencing... that's the magic of open source... comes in DIY and you can even build a chip in yourself... that is programming the chip data yourself to read whatever you want it to read... fabulous invention by M|r... I was watching him doodle it 2 years back and walla now it's storming the world! Don't you just love people like them!
