guitar:
Squier Telecaster Custom

reason why i buy:
- Josh Farro, ex guitarist of my favourite band, Paramore has it!! he has the 72 telecaster deluxe
- Taylor York, Lead/Rhythm guitarist of Paramore also uses lots of teles
- it doesnt have much twang but i sure fits tones for Paramore!

Do show some pictures of your nocaster, if you have it.

You like assembling teles too? Much better value for money than any fender cs! Feel free to PM me, I got a list of resources of where I got my tele parts.

I think I made a mistake..... I had this impression that there were 2 different versions of ac4tvh, actually, there's only 1 version. I bought mine in 2010 year end sale.

Here you go:

On the AC4 issue, technically you're not wrong. There is the original AC4(the one in black tolex), as well as the current reissue(white tolex).

Check out the Seymour Duncan Custom telecaster, based on the tele used by jeff beck. Modelled on a butterscotch blonde 52', with 2 humbucks and a TOM.

Only 35 of 'em made in the world...

I saw Davis selling it, displayed prominently in front. US online stores list it for 6k+...

I'm not sure if it's for sale man, at least that's what a staff member told me. That mastodon ivory nut is a bit too exotic IMO lol! You should keep an eye out for this one as well, a Fender Japan Custom Shop model. I prefer the finish and the bridge on this one.

GAS! Pity not in production anymore... All the humbucker teles come with the weird pickguards... The original pickguard looks much nicer.

With the original 3 brass saddles i wonder how it will sound like as compared with the telegib.

whoa i like this thread. hehe.
I like teles but never had one before. so I'm saving up and get a tele as a birthday present for myself. XD
wondering if I should DIY, or buy one of the shelf. hmmm.

Heres mine :D

i own an fender blacktop telecaster

Basically its an humbucker based telecaster.
I love tele because it have the les paul sound yet have the tele feel.
its light and looks good too ! :D tone wise its just great!

Mod i made : Barekuckle Capacitor included. Pickguard changed to red mirror pickguard.tone and volum knob switch, and pickup change to bareknucke nailbomb :D

Fender sells the wide-range humbucker separately as well, I'm sure you can score some pretty good deals for them on eBay. Although I'll be honest, they don't do a really good job of capturing the feel of the original WRHBs. Mainly due to the fact that the originals used the CuNiFe magnet, whereas the modern reissues use a ceramic magnet. You would be better off looking at aftermarket versions, like the Fralin Unbucker or the Lollar Regals.

You could try hunting down an original WRHB, but it ain't gonna be cheap lol.

Listen to the demo done by proguitarshop. Esp the neck pickup. Never hear anything like that... Its a Jazz/JB humbuck set with 250k pots if im not wrong.

Looks like a tele trying to be a les paul, haha, kinda strange to me, maybe because I prefer classic style teles. Definitely way overpriced, better to assemble your own or invest in a tele built by one of those boutique custom guitar shops.

I'm looking forward to fitting these saddles onto my 62 RI Tele.

I prefer the design of this over the Joe Bardens. IMO I think these make more sense plus it's cheaper compared to the Joe Bardens. Got them from Guitar Connection. Can't wait to install it on. Been mad busy with school and work. Dang it!

Hi has anyone bought parts from Warmoth etc and build your own tele...i would love a big chucky c neck tele..

I'm sure there are many who have used warmoth. However, I recommend you go for usacg. About 10 years, I ordered a strat neck and it was probably the best I've had. My usacg tele neck is about to be shipped to me in less than a week.

Any suggestions for a change of pickups?

I'm looking for a slightly warmer tone than what my default pickups can afford.

@ToneJedi: To answer your question from eons ago(in another thread); Nope, I've yet to install the callaham string trees, but I'm seriously contemplating on it.

BTW, would it be possible to replace my default bridge with the callaham vintage T bridge even if the number and position of screw holes do not match?

You can find pictures of it in the below-attached link:

It's not easy to give advice on pickups because we all have different taste and we play different type of music. Personally, I just pick something with vintage specs and lower output, it works for me, not sure if it will work for you. GFS pickups are good and cheap even after you factor in the shipping cost.

Callaham string tree is cheap, fast, easy, reversible mod, no need to think so much, haha. Callaham has a bridge with 3 saddles that will fit american standard specifications, not sure if it will fit your tele.

Is your jap tele bridge is a top-loader or string thru body? Looks like top-loader based on the photo. If it's a top-loader, don't change the bridge.

If possible don't do any irreversible modifications, especially those that require you to drill the body. Might affect the resale value if you ever wanna sell it in future.

Right now, if you like the tone, don't change anything, don't bother about what people say, it's your tele, you decide. If you insist on upgrades or modifications, do those which can be reversed.

Mine's a top loader.

Still acquainting myself with the different types of bridges :p

Maybe you can find another bridge that fits but probably not from callaham.

By the way, what music do you play? What amps/pedals do you use?

@zekre: if you're looking for warm tele pups, give SD's Alnico 2 set a shot, they're what comes to my mind when I think of 'warmth'. As for your bridge issue, go check out the wilkinson bridges. Not so sure about the plate screws, but I know that they accommodate both string-through and top-loading bodies.
