Sweep picking...

hey...guys...hahaha hi!!! erm i wana learn how to sweep picK!!!! any way u ppl can advise me how to learn?? wana try out crossroads the solo!!! lol....erm any excersies? thanks!

Hi baobao, you can play that song purely by alternating picking. From start to end. Yes the first part definitely looks like sweep patterns, but Vai plays it alt.picking. So I also learnt it that way. It's definitely possible, keep playing, start slow. And you'll get it up to speed in no time.

bro try with a minor or major triad...
avoid a full blown arp...

need to do it slowly and evenly....

start off with arpeggios involving say only the top 3 strings, not 5 or 6 when u start out..once you're fluent with 3 proceed to 4 then 5 and 6..you'll find you'll need some maybe awkward fingering and clean downstrokes/upstrokes but practise should get u there. Good luck!

Try every damned form of sweep It gets easier to nail once you get used to it
