I know that Swee Lee sell their items at very high prices, then they a "discount". But the price is about the same as normal prices in Sg after the discount

The only one i know of is the 40% for Boss pedals

Do you guys know any other discounts they give on their products that like is always thr or smth?

Thanks :)

congrats, you realised the discount culture of sweelee as well..hahaha'
all year round discount...quite bull eh?

It's a sales tactic of theirs. They'll put a higher price but offer a "discount" in order that you'll feel more enticed to purchase something from them

From what I experienced, here's how the "Big 3" pricing is roughly like......

Even after Swee Lee's so-called "discount", the prices are still higher than the average market prices out there, especially the Gibsons and Fenders. The only time you realised some savings (though not much) in your purchase is SL's mid or year end sales. But stocks are limited, some items (especially guitars) are not in prime condition, and you have to queue.

City Music also employs the same sales tactics. But their "post-discount" prices are not too far off from the market or on-line prices. However you can get some good stuff, at a reasonably good price, at their year-end clearance sales.

Davis Guitar's prices are mostly fixed, hardly any discount is given. On a whole, their prices are not cheap but still pretty reasonable. And for some reasons, they don't usually have clearance sales.

The pricing strategy is for foreigners who constitute a significant customer base (e.g. Indonesia, India etc). Local customers get a "discount" which only means it's the MRSP + GST + some profit. So just take it that you are paying "normal price" without discount except the times when they have a warehouse sale.

I beg to differ.
City Music's prices on new release items are usually lower than retail prices elsewhere. For instance, when I purchased my Night Train the week it was released, I calculated that bringing it in from States WITHOUT shipping and handling is already more expensive. I mostly look at their Vox stuffs. Which is usually below retail prices.

Davies guitars are reasonably priced. But their effect pedals is where things shine. Although they have limited choices and it's difficult to try the pedals over there, their prices are nuts. Just check out their T-Rex stuffs. Or heck even the brand new EHX Germanium Muff retailed, within the building, at $140, $149, $199 among 3 shops. Davis always has the cheapest price in pedals.

Standard Value has cheap guitars in relation to Swing, simply because I believe they managed to secure a premium with Swing.

Because their stuff is already VERY cheap. Their ESP (not LTD or Edwards) guitars and high-end Marshall tube amps are priced lower, if not the lowest, compared to the rest of the world. Look up how much is a JVM410H is in musiciansfriend.com and compare it to the price of $1950 (or 1650 which I saw once) that Davis is selling theirs at. Also, the EHX Deluxe Memory Man goes for $360 at Davis. Do some research on how much it costs in other shops in Singapore, as well as online stores in the US.
