sweaty palms

I found that quite an obstacle in playing the guitar, especially bending strings, when u require friction.Besides it also "stains" ur guitar. It weirds. Sometime both my palm can sweat like crazy playing some simple stufff, even as i feel very relaxed. And i found out that i sweat most during the afternoon even in an air conditioned environment., At night it seems ok.

anyone has sweaty palms too? how to deal with it?

Sweaty palms, really a bane to us guitarists. And yea, my palms perspire most in an air conditioned environment. Sweat, when coupled with the gloss finish of a Strat neck, is not good. Sticky, extremely uncomfortable to play, much less shred on. The only way i've managed to counter is to play with the fan blasting at me...

i dont think u can have the fans blasting at u while playing live. Wrist bands? i saw some people hanging their towels on their guitar straps live on stage. dunno if its for that purpose?

Then again, of all the time's i've played live, my hands do not perspire. The only time they do is when i'm locked up in my room making noise. Still, it bothers... especially since the hardware will tend to corrode faster...

worse sweaty palms case is for keyboardists..... before ur act they are up there, and sweat like hell.. your turn to go there, keyboard machiam got tanker accident... so oily...

Yap, I can help here. Since I was young, I had already been experiencin sweaty palm problem and my condition is very bad. I understand whats the feeling like when doin bendin on the guitars with sweaty palms, not mentionin super speed rusting of strings!!
Last year, I was introduced to this medication called DRICLOR by a friend which is recommended by SGH doctors and is available at Guardians store islandwide. Cost round $18 a bottle. Buy and use it, I can confirm ur sweaty palm problem will go away in no time.

i've seen ppl use anti-perspirants, but as you guys may know, they are carcinogenic (cancer-causing). I have a minor case of sweaty palms, doesn't affect my playing, in fact my sweat lubricates the neck.. haha.. maybe a lil' powder on the hand might help? but guitarists with sweater palms do have to change their strings more frequently. I change them every week.

ah, great. thanks.

how long does the effect of that medication last for?

U must apply the medication everyday for a week before u go to bed but this depends on individual's condition, some will be ok after 5 days or so. Also, the feeling sucks big time cause u got to sleep with ur hand wide open to prevent stainin of ur bedsheet. But no choice, just got to bear with it....To gain something u must sacrifice something right?? After tat, u just have to apply it once or twice a week to keep ur hand nice and dry forever unless u stop applyin for a long period of time!!

Any side effects of using that?

The product contains:
1) Aluminium Chloride Hexahydrate
2) Ethyl Alcohol
3) Purified Water

If u have allergy to any above ingredients, then u cant use the product. Otherwise, it shouldnt be a problem except tat dont use it on cuts or abrasion as it will sting. Also, depends on individual skin type, some might incur stinging or irritation to the skin, if tat happen, stop at once and consult a doctor.
