Strings

DR Extra life. I don't think DR's other strings are coloured...

I don't quite like the tone of DRs though... Good for metal but not quite there for other stuff (my personal opinion)

do note that coloured strings aren't merely about colours, it's actually a coating so it does affect feel. if you are easily bothered by the coating flaking off, do reconsider.

The coating is actually to give the strings long life, hence, DR Extra life. Only thing is, coating tends to affect tone. D'addario EXPs suffer from this most of all...

And you cant do a pick slide on coloured strings..
I scrapped off half the colour 5 minutes after restringing.. Haven't touched the coloured ones ever since!
And sub, may I ask what guitar is that? The red one I mean..

Are they actually stiffer as compared to uncoated strings?

The only thing I don't like about coated strings is the price :D , that is, if there is one that doesn't compromise on tone.

Recently I fell in love with GHS Boomers, gonna get those next.

oh shit.flaking?scraping?guess i'll not buy then.since i heard its also quite expensive.im kinda abusive when strumming.

Bro, its ok when strumming.. Just dont do a pickslide!
I did it with a metal pick somemore..

The idea of coated strings is really for the people who seldom play a guitar and they don't wish to have to change strings even after keeping a guitar in storage.

First of all, the coated strings sound bad. Dampened harmonics. Darkened tone. Slightly higher tension. To me, they sound deader.

Second, yes, the coating can scrap off with just a normal pick... and the exposed string will rust.
