Strings! Gauges and brands.

Hey there guys. I'm currently using Curt Mangan .10s and I have fallen in love, although I'm thinking of changing to .11s soon.

Just want to know, what gauge and brand of strings do you use for your electric guitars? And any particular reason as to why?

im using dunlop .09's i dont know why, but they're good to play with.

previously used dr coated strings .10, i loved those but some had QC issues, so looked for alternatives.

DR 0.9 dimebag signature strings

it's like the regular great-ass 0.9 DRs, but with an extra coating that makes the strings stronger and more resistant to breakage.

coated strings are a burn in the pocket man lol..

if you are ready to do some tweaking (action & whammy set-up where applicable), the .011 set is an interesting venture.

i'm currently using .009 for all 25.5" guitars & .0095 for the rest which are 24.75" 8) no brand loyalty but currently favouring Electro Harmonix & Curt Mangan.

hey sub

i would need to redo my action and all huh? i just sent it for setup about 2 months ago and it's set up for .10s now.. does the intonation need to be adjusted as well?

D'Addario .11s

Tried using DRs - still on my guitar - but can't get used to it. The top strings feels like it just wants to slice my fingers.

Oh and yes if you change guage you'd need to intonate the guitar again + action as well.

Dom: yes bro, the thicker gauge might cause some excessive buzz for wound strings. the intonation might be off for these as well, just give it a good check-up. if you know how to self-administer to these procedures, would save you some $$$ 8)

they rust pretty quickly though. :\ that's my only gripe.

Wyres .009's from Maestro. Its either that or Blue Steels. I like the Wyres for its lower tension feel. Lasts alright if you use it with a string cleaning product.

I use D'Addario 9s

I tried Ernie balls they rust too quickly. Curt Mangan, Very nice feel to it. Plus it retains the nice springy feel even after a long time, but take quite fast to lose its fresh tone.
