Strings! Gauges and brands.

Personally, I prefer sticking to 1 single brand. The last time I tried Fender strings with the same guage, it caused my neck to bow. Got hell of a problem adjusting the neck when I changed back to D'Addario. So far, I've got no explaination for the 'Phenomenan'
But after that bad experience, I'm just sticking to 1 brand, 1 guage a guitar.

Btw, where do u buy everly strings?

hahah im still testing out which string i really like. i'll probably stick to a brand after i find one that i like!

hmmm everly? should be maestro guitars if im not wrong

ok, i see alot of people here have probs with rusting strings, my friend thought this up and theoretically it should work. He says it does. You get a piece of magnesium, or some other metal more reactive than iron, the you attach a small piece of it, 1 to each string, stops them rusting. In theory it should work because the Mg should corrode in preference. I'm lazy to explain why, go google 'sacrificial metals'

lol where to get magnesium?

anyway its correct.... those older than 16 shd know....

the metals chapter in chemistry... magnesium would oxidise first.... dun really think corrode is the correct term

erm im using 9s...

im thinking of changing guage.... what will i get with 10s or 11s? im pretty unsure what those strings will change....

Read this!

Hello.

I'm using D'addario light gauge strings on my guitars. It is important, even crucial in selecting the right set of strings which will complement with your playing habits. This will make the difference in your string bending techniques which in turn affects your tune.

Hmm...I got a lot of grounds to cover with this topic. Go to http://guitareffectssecrets.andy-ng.com/22/guitar-string/ to learn all about choosing the perfect set of strings for you!

hmm yeah the 9s i use sometimes i play sharp when playing fast.... i just bend those strings down....

between 10s and 11s which do you guys recommend i go for first....

depends on what you want, 11s give a fatter tone than the 10s but will be harder to bend, not to mention you have to check the neck regularly if you're on 11s because the heavy gauge strings will likely bend your guitar neck slightly.

Im using Ehx 11 - 48's wif my strat, and theyre great! Even though still trying around though, they r sth lyk ernie ball's,but cheaper! And the high e string dosent break as easy as the ernie ball's... I've tried D'Addario's,Ernies and Ehx,and ehx rule over the others! Try around, there are no good or bad strings.. All bout personal preference.. 8)

I used to use boomers standard pack 9-42s. Works great, great sound tone. Currently on DR coated red devils. DRs seems fine but the tone isnt as good as boomers for me..

I`m using some brands for some guitars..

until now I used Ernieball -> Blue Steel -> ghs boomers & EHX -> Gibson Britewire..
Now I`m using Gibson Britewire, Kerly Kues, Dr. Ducks, Dean Markley..
For stop tail or syncro bridge...Gibson Britewire 010 - 046
For Ibanez Guitars...Kerly Kues and Dr. Ducks 009 - 042
For Washburn N4, N6...Dean Markley Nuno Sig 009 - 046

I like high tension..

I used ghs almost 5 years +...
But after when I used Gibson Britewire for my bulls eye...
I changed all string of my guitars to Gibson..

And now I`m using Kerly Kues...
good and high tension...and not easy to rust...
but too expensive....
