Strat questions

I have a few questions regarding the strat. Kindly pardon my ignorance!

1) Are there any significant tonal differences between an Ash-bodied strat and an Alder-bodied strat?
2) Do single coils take to effects well? Bearing in mind the fact that they have a huge inclination towards noise/hum.
3) Are there any disadvantages on getting a maple-neck strat apart from cosmetics/aesthetics? Seeing as to how rosewood necks seem to be often favoured to the former.

Thanks so much for your time!

Do u mean maple FRETBOARD as compared to rosewood? If so, maple will give u a brighter sound, compared to rosewood, which gives a mellower sound. Most ppl like the maple NECK rosewood fretboard combination bcos they both balance each other out, to give a more neutral sound. But if both are maple, u wld prob get a very bright tone.

hmmm... i thought most people prefer maple neck and maple fretboard, coz the sound is brighter and said to have better resonance and sustain. somehow, i feel maple neck and fretboard axes are priced more expensive than those maple neck and rosewood fretboard.

thats just my opinion, correct me if i m wrong.

i use a rosewood fretboard on my Fender strat but somehow i prefer the maple , more comfortable , go try it out and see which is in your favour

its just another one of those guitar fashion things....

1) super heavy guitars = more sustain
2) brass nut = more sustain
3) poly vs nitro = let the wood breathe....
4) ultra high output vs low output

etc etc etc....

isn't there a time where rosewood fretboard is preferred?
