strat pickup height problem

hey peeps. recently i tried to lower the height of my pickups on my strat and i realised that if i put the pickup too low, the screws would be sticking out too much! and esp the bridge...it would be rubbing into the vol knob if the screw is out by too much. any way to get my pickups low but yet not needing to have too much of the screw showing??

just a thought, is it possible to shorten the screws? or simply use a big plier and "cut" abit of the end.

It's either the pickup cavity is not deep enough or your screws are too long. I would suspect the former. The screws are more or less standard length, I think. The pickup is bottoming out. Are there anything blocking the pickup at the bottom?

What make is your strat?

Would have been best if you learned what Mike did to your guitar. Just for future "in case" and "what if" situations.
