Step Down Transformers...

Hi,
Need some advise.

I am getting a Radias from US and have checked that it is running on AC 9V. However I have also read from this forum that some peep's equipment (from US) being fried when they tried to plug it here.

Thus would like to know if a step down transformer is required and where could i obtain it? Could I go to "make" a adapter/charger instead of getting a step down transformer?

buy a standard Korg AC adapter that is for 240V. or actually, check if the supplied adapter is rated 110-230V or 100-120V. if it is 110-230V, then u won't need any transformer. otherwise, a stepdown is required. u can get it from UF technologies, 3rd floor sim lim sq. a low power transformer should be sufficient. check the power consumption of the Radias and buy a suitably-rated stepdown transformer.

Hi Guys,
thanks for the advice. Have just checked that the adapter is 110V. So i guess i would not need a transformer.

You're only looking at the lowest value of the range that the adapter supports. You should be checking the entire range instead. Does it go up to 230V or 240V?

hmmm... just got the baby today and the adapter wrote :
input: 120V ~ 60Hz 35W
output: 9V ~ 3000mA

Class 2 Transformer

The adapter you got is out of the question for use in Singapore. Go get a proper 9V adapter that can support your required current requirements instead. With a transformer, more things to go wrong.
