I have been searching a few places for 0000 grade steel wool... Til now, I cannot find it.. Is there a definite place in the West that sells it??

And btw, anyone knows how much does the Allen Wrench for SZ series cost?

TIA :)

Try HomeFix. There's a website and numbers so you can call to make sure the store has it.

Around $16 for a BIG, like 3 - 4 fistfuls of steel wool.

I get mine at a hardware store in Serene Centre Bukit Timah.

You should be able to find it at any homefix or handifix stores.

I would advise to go with bronze wool over steel wool, works the same way except that it's non magnetic so if you use it on your guitar it won't be attracted to the pickups like steel wool which will be a chore to get rid off! Bronze wool is also widely available at Homefix  well i got mine from tampines

I would assume that anyone using steel wool is doing work on the fretboard, or neck. So obviously the pickups won't need to be removed.

i always buy my steel wool from the DIY shop in Jurong Point..the one in Basement 1...(same floor as NTUC)

they sell fine and coarse steel wool.

Use steel wool to polish the frets when they are dull or rusted.
I would never let the wool near my fingerboard, my friend tried it once and the darn things got imbedded into the board. Now it's sparkly.

i think someone here also mentioned using the fine steel wool to polish the backs of those gloss-finished necks (i.e. Gibsons and some Fenders) to get a satin kinda finish a la Ibanez
