Spray painting pedals?

I plan to spray paint, or at least do something to beautify this unfinished pedal enclosure that I have.

My plan is to keep the face-lift relatively low-cost. Meaning I intend to get a few spray cans and attempt to give it nice coat of colour.

I need help with,

1.) any flaws you've noticed in my plan.
2.) do I need to lacquer a metal enclosure?
3.) decals?
4.) if not decals, what about inscription of wording? What should I use?

Thanks for reading, any help would be much appreciated.

i think u will need to coat the raw metal with primer first. you can get it from hobby shops. decale wise and paint coatings im not sure, maybe those tamiya sprays will work for you.

you definitely need a primer.. get the nippon spray paint primer..

This is what i do:

2-3 coats of primer
a base coat (either flat white or flat black;about 3 coats here)
then the color that you want (about 3-4 coats here)
I add about 2 coat of clear coat here

I use paint markers (which i got from Home-Fix) to write the words on or you could use stickers or decals.. If you do use stickers or decals, do spray about 2 coats of clear coat on them before you transfer them onto the pedal.. If you use the markers, do let them dry first

Then for the finishing touch, i add another 3 coats of clear coat and it should be done.

By the way, i wouldn't suggest baking the paint, i used a toaster oven and had horrible results (paint started bubbling).. Just leave it to air dry for one day or more and you should be fine

u can cut out the words or pics u want on a cardboard or paper n spay on it like a stencil i guess..

Nice, I was thinking to have a sunburst finish. Was looking at a spray can sunburst guide. But it's for guitars la. Heh.

Those clear coat and primers cost around what, 5-6 bucks each?

Hey imcorn,
You stay just a few blocks away from me yes? Mind if I come down for a visit some day? Heh, get some tips and pointers.
