Sound at Baybeats Powerhouse Stage

apparently, alot of the complaints were from residents of The Sail (hearsay, citations required). It might get alot worse when the IR is completed. they might even have to move baybeats to a entirely new location. my guess.

Then it wouldn't be called BAYbeats anymore : (

didnt go for the first 2 days of baybeats really regret missing meza virs and suicide solution's set :(
but anyway atleast i caught the 3rd day's performance it wasnt that bad at the powerhouse today :) well if you are gona say move its kinda hard to get a location like the current one which is able to have 3 stages and yet easily excessable through out the 3routes
and besides IR= tourism , im sure a high percentage of tourist would be interested in the events anyway and that's if they are in singapore for the 3/365 days :)

O.o Today was quite okay leh. Especially for Anberlin, it was freaking loud. Didn't help that the Ambassadors played a pretty loud energetic set either.

Although I think something went wrong with Stephen's mike in the beginning. I was stuck in the mosh pit but I couldn't hear his vocals at certain points

Talking abt Stephen's vocals.. I jus noticed tat ya... At some parts i couldnt hear his voice.. Havoc mosh pits btw.

Sunday's opening set at the Powerhouse stage was similar to Saturday's sound. Not sure whether For Better Endings' guitarist intended to scoop his guitar sound until so chia lat, can't hear it through the mix when he solos.

But when it came to Zero Sequence's set, the overall sound was perfectly balanced. They must have really made a great effort to balance it, wonder if they brought their own sound tech? Could hear every instrument at different parts of their set, including the hundred-and-one keyboards they had there. Vocals were amazingly clear and cut through the mix very well.

Anberlin, well, there was definitely some sort of loose connection for his mic at the start. The volume of the vocals was as high as all the other instruments combined, but somehow it didn't cut through. Was it eq'ed wrongly, or was it because of his ripped vocal chords? Couldn't tell.. I listen to death metal, black metal, viking metal and troll metal even, but my throat still hurts for stephen when he sang.. His acoustic set voice over at the Arena stage was much better with in-pitch singing and stable vibratos on long notes.

Zero Sequence set, imo, was the best set on Sunday overall. Mang's vocals + band's precision and sound balance.

seriously;

3 EVENINGS of music over a weekend

vs

multiple weekend dress rehearsals for NDP with fighter jets, helicopters, 21 gun salutes, and MCs shouting over the PA. From June - August !!!

3 days of roaring F1 cars squealing round the circuit for 3 days of qualifying rounds, practice laps and the final race.

atas residents of your 12 million $ homes, go pick on someone your own size!!

I am sooo refraining myself from posting on this thread.....so no comments from me!! :(

Local bands did a great job....thanks fellas.

Btw... we had good sound at the WMUM/Gworx booth. ;)

Don't like it, don't stay there. Its quite obvious that some people don't know how to spend their money. Being rich doesnt make it any better - stupidity still prevails.

Yea, Stephen's singing was qutie bleagh when the mic came loose. But there were some parts I couldn't help but to wonder that if he bounced around the stage a little less, perhaps he can sing it properly XD

I have to agree that at the Powerhouse, Anberlin wasn't the best performance. It was a little overhyped. Zero Sequence and The Ambassadors seemed so much better. Could be the mix

But ya. This year's Baybeats was quite packed!! Could be because that Baybeats is finally gaining recognition as THE music festival in Singapore, could be because of Anberlin. Hope its the former though! :p

NEA complained? BAYBEATS was permitted right? just like a wedding. i thought they had the permit to blast the house down. Baybeats happen once a year and thouse neighbouring buildings can go screw themselves hard. REAL HARD. ANBERLIN ROCKS THOUGH!

well, not for me.. cause honestly, i haven't heard of that band until yesterday.. lol and i'm sure i'm not the only one!

tell that to the couple of thousand people that swarmed the powerhouse at their set last night ;)

anyways, i'm glad the sound was upped last night, way better than on saturday. i don't think stephen's mic was checked properly because i noticed a slight drop in connection towards the end when the tech guy was soundchecking. they didn't get a proper soundcheck cos the rain wiped that out in the morning.

check out Anberlin's Never Take Friendship Personal album. their best, imo. and the earlier version of The Feel Good Drag is on there.

I prefered the new version. Its more refined and a lot less raw then the one in Never Take Friendship Personal

Besides, I thought New Surrender was better
