Hello Friends!

somethingood, the annual buskers' festival along Orchard Road, is back this year with bigger plans and even more exciting programmes! We'll be taking music to the streets come 7 - 15 JUNE! somethingood now comes with somethingreallygood (Saturday, 14 June), and various sideshows at Harry's and Wala-Wala!

All donations collected go to Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, a local charity that aims to grant one wish to every child with a life-threatening illness. These illnesses include leukemia, end-stage kidney failure, and various forms of cancer. We're looking to adopt and grant the wishes of these children through the amount collected from our street performances.

=AUDITION=
This year, things are a bit different because we're in a bit of a deadlock with certain authorities, so there is going to be an Audition on 28 MAY, 9.30am - 11.30am. It's going to be a 5-10 minute session per band, so please do make the time to join us!

HURRY! Send us your details at somethingood2008@gmail.com:
- Band / Performer name
- Names + NRIC
- Contact number
- E-mail address
- Website / myspace
- A short introduction

We're looking for over 100 bands to show the Big People what Singapore is capable of, so please do join us in the auditions! Registration closes 12mn, 25 May 2008. so HURRY!

(p.s. for the dramatic inside story... come talk to us! -- dying to share, really, but we can't say it here!)

Hey when is the thing????
the event is from 7-14june but the audition and deadline is on 28 n 25 june????????
how can we go for the event then audition...???LOL

EHHH! Wahlau so sorry I'm damn blur!
Auditions are on 28 May, which is SOON! Registration over the weekend -- 25 May! Everyone please come join us! I know auditions are a huge bother, but it's the only way the entire event will be allowed along Orchard Road. :(

For the past few years we've let every band that applied perform, because this should be open to as many people as possible! but this year the ministry isn't happy about giving us these liberties, so they want to see everyone first. So please make this date available! I shall get chocolate ready.

we just had rock on myanmar, and the upcoming festival for a future is around the corner...

yay yay yay yes please! Please keep the e-mails coming in -- this REALLY means a lot to us!

i think it's great that there are many bands are now more and more involved in such work -- i hate it when the papers complain about our youths being apathetic about causes. rubbish!

Hey is there other dates for the auditions?????? like on weekends...
cause me n my band members still skuling on 28 May...furthermore its in the morning..

It is weird to put an audition on a Wednesday morning, unless u are only targeting secondary school and junior college bands...

I believe most of us here are working or for those bands with NSFs, it will be quite hard to come down for audition.

yeah that was one of the reasons we gave them in our appeal against the mandatory audition -- but no use. and on my part I have to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the timeslot given to us by the govt authorities. this is really the best they would offer us after an extremely long, drawn-out negotiation.

i can't really post the looong story about what went on here, because there are too many legal implications -- but do catch me around town / home club so that i can whine to everyone!

bryan-- hello! can you drop us a note at somethingood2008@gmail.com? i cannot guarantee another audition date, because this is totally up to the government entity we've been working with, and not us (if we had our way, we wouldn't have auditions at all!), but i'm hoping to present a list of bands that cannot make it in order to show how impractical some of the decisions made on their side have been. thank you!

Hey Courthouse,
It is alright i understand the complications that you guys are going through and it can be a real pain to get the stuff done and things signed by the authorities. Well i did pm you and all the best with the bands. Let's help grant the children what they want.

Hi bryan -- pm-ed you.

i think this will go further than just one event -- it's about time the govt authorities realised they haven't given their work much thought. seriously. this isn't the first time we've worked on them on projects, and as much as we propose solutions (and VERY good and appropriate solutions to the problems faced, imho), they don't give the issues enough thought. seriously.

hey

Hey Jo,
Definitely man i mean if its for the benefit or the needy wouldnt they want more bands so that they can generate more money to grant more children their wishes?
