Hi, i'm new here, just found this great forum recently.

would like to ask what kind of keyboard should i get for a beginner, that can function similar to a piano, and also modern music too. No budget yet..

really appreciate all the help!
thanks a lot everyone!

hey thanks for quick reply =). For Yamaha S08 how much is it? and i just found out 1 product myself wondering if it's good or not the model is Kurzweil SP88X, is functioning like piano does it?

no discount? lol

Kiddyz, are you buying the keyboard to just "try out" or are you planning to devote lots of time to it? For the first option, you can try one of the cheaper keyboards from yamaha or casio. They are pretty user friendly.

For the latter option (and if you have not budget), go whack one of the top of the line digital pianos or workstations from Korg, Roland, Yamaha etc etc.

You may also read some of the sticky threads here as a primer.

I think its better if you go to a few of these shops to check out what is available:
Citymusic, Swee Lee, Luthermusic, Yamaha Music Sch (PS), did I miss out any shops people?

hey guys, wow Kongwee 6k is very high =x.
are there cheaper Roland keyboards?
To z_z, hey thanks for the reply. I want to devote time to it =) so i'm looking for a good one, but does it really works a wonder by getting a real expensive one? i was hoping if i could get cheaper ones haha.

1. Please read the stickies in this forum section
2. What do you intend to use your keyboard for? (how are you going to use it?)
3. What genre do you intend to play?

hi Cheez, sorry i didn't read up the stickies earlier on, didn't realise it was there.
My apologies. For now i would like to learn piano songs and pop songs =)
Any recommendation for that?

hello thanks for the reply =) For the psr series, i have checked none of have 88 keys, is it okay not to have the right 88 key? sorry i m really ignorant sometimes.. anyone know how much is a Kurzweil sp88x?

Hi kiddyz, it'd really be good for you to go down to the shops and take a look. Talk to the staff, test and listen to what they have to offer before coming back to this forum and seek further opinions. Else, you're just buying based on specs. z_z has provided some shops that you can go to.

yesh 61 keys is enough. Me using PSr e 413. maybe u should get that model. Good for starters with great sound quality and function.
