someone offer a newbie some advice?

yes your guitar needs a set up, I tell u because I saw your guitar other ppl just make comments they never see. Then again u have the right to trust who u want.
what's it about trust who you want ? and why not tell him to post some pics? besides how are you gona tell if the guitar is not intonated just by looking at it unless it's a case of serious worn out frets.. and yea what kinda newly purchased guitar get's problems like such? anyway now that he frets better and he say's there aint a problem thn shouldnt it all be good ? but nonetheless a newly bought guitar should be sent for a setup

because I not only saw it, I touched it i played with it too.

Likui indeed helped me in choosing the guitar, thats the only way i would've known the word 'intonation' lol. and here's picture, the 1st from the right has obvious brownish.

so the thing now is, TS got problems, we advised. then you came in and act one big fug because you touched his guitar and played with it before. so next time we create a thread and asked if anyone played with TS guitar before, after which then we can advise?

wait wait wait..
Likui was kind enough to bring me down to peninsula plaza to help me in choosing the guitar. My point is.. i am only seeking advice, and since you guys advised me that i should look up google, then i wouldn't mind. There's nothing here thats worth arguing k.

hi guys, have another question. (ps lol, not trolling..)
is it advisable to slide your fingers across the strings as you switch a note? its the only way i can tell i'm on the correct string.
thanks.

I don't think so. It always causes fingersqueak (at least for me) and it does not sound good unless you meant to do it. What i suggest is that you work on memorising your fretboard, because it's an essential part of playing, i took almost 2 years to do so but now i can play without looking. Its a very useful skill, so i suggest you work on it.

Yes it most definitely. Muscle memory is a very powerful thing. I will bet you that people like Vai could probably play their solos blindfolded and with earplugs and still know exactly what their playing. In fact, i close my eyes and play when trying to memorise a piece. It helps loads.

yep agree...practice long enough and u can play most pieces that dun require much fret jumping blindfolded.

couldn't agree more with this.
i printed out some scores that i'm interested to play, and most of them don't require changing the frets alot, except pressing alot only.

perhaps more practicing and less asking would help more? no point typing out what you're gonna do if you're not gonna do it.

more or less i think i can play all the basic notes, so where do i proceed on, before getting a teacher?
Learn minor/major first, or just go ahead with simple tunes...
edit: i think this is possible if i were to play this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCplsXu1HRk
take away the solo. LOL

meaning the middle few seconds?? those aren't as easy to play with feel. sure u can hit the notes on time, but can u do the bends and vibratos with the same feel??

anyway...what are the basic notes?? i dun remember learning any basic notes when i 1st started o.O
