Well, heard frm 1 of the shop bosses at penisular tat apparantly, some gibby and epis are made by samick factory....anyone can verified or heard of this b4???

gibsons obviously not.
epiphones yes, the ones you see with serial number starting with S are from samick factory.

which means very few of them are made from there actually. Most of the korean ones start with a U. Made in china ones, epiphone has its own factory there which means they can get better quality control.

heres the link to epi's china factory

Seems not to bad huh? Makes me wanna try out their accoustics

If you're into tennis, you may know that once upon a time, Pro Kennex's China factory manufactured tennis racquets for major brands like Wilson, Prince and Head. That means all racquets came from the same source, and they're not telling you!

As for guitars...you may never never know. Maybe some Gibsons owners out there don't even know their prize instrument were made by the fine luthiers of Sammick. And they're not telling you too! Muah..hah..hah! Welcome to the twilight zone...

Samick does make good guitars, it all depends on the individual Q/C of the companies that contract the factory to make. For example, epiphone asks samick factory to make their LPs. The LPs are then shipped to epiphone, say china, where they have a company factory. Q/C is done there, and its up to the epiphone ppl to spot the lemons.

Hmm..... material grades , quality of parts used....should b included when discussing High /Mid /Low end guitars also .....ya ??

No, the parts are ordered by Samick and used to make everything from Ibanez to Fender to Cort to TGM and J&D. Its just a matter of higher end guitars getting better parts than lower end 1s...........

its the brand name :P

samick has very bad resale value.
anyone remember vantage guitars? yea those were made by samick too.
2nd hand value? pathetic also.

ppl still see the name, even tho it may be epiphone, it still has somewhat of a 'name' compared to samick.

true.

ok, heres some old pics of the internals i took comparing my samick LP artist series (artist series are the only samicks worth getting imo) with my epi LP custom plus.
notice how much more attention to detail the samick is.
both guitars have exactly the same neck thickness, width, weight etc.
the original electronics on the samick sux real bad tho, very tiny pots, flimsy toggle etc.
eventually i placed the epi electronics into the samick, and put the EMGs into the epi.
notice the slightly thicker maple top/laminate on the samick, compared to the non-existent veneer on the epi.
