The general idea for the coin riddle is to take 1 coin from the first bag, 2 from the second, etc. Weigh all of them together, and the weight will tell you which bag contains the fake.

ac is correct! oops i forgot to mention that you can't weigh with your hands. hahaha.
the difference from the actual weight (weight if all the coins are real) will tell you which bag the fake coins came from.

the same riddle (essentially) that i remember is that that there are ten boxes of chocolates with ten chocolates each, where every chocolate weighs 10g except for one box where every chocolate weighs 9g.

so if you take 1 chocolate from box 1, 2 chocolates from box 2, so on, and box 7 has the lighter chocolate, it would weigh

6x10
7x9
8x10
9x10
10x10

the total would be different depending on what the multiple of nine is.
