Just a general enquiry: what kind of production value are you looking at? Will DIY types be acceptable?

In fact, it will best if it is DIY! Don't have to record pro in a studio. That will really encourage the rest of SOFTies to come up with their own. A bit of hiss here and there is OK. Maybe if it's good, some kind SOFTie sound engineer can tidy the album up and who knows where it will go???

Fio: Brain, heart, kidney, liver, its the sammmmme.. HAHA!

Okay let's not go off topic now! We're doing one then? You serious? Interested? HAHA!

Yes, turbochicken did it all himself! Anybody wants to learn how to sing in 6 notes polyphony should ask him! You'll need to grow 6 pair of vocal cords!

Another idea. Let's pick one song - then everybody do a different version of it (maybe just a 16 bar phrase) - then we mix it together as one song. It will be a true collaboration amongst SOFTies!

For that kinda songs, the best would be one that EVERYONE knows, even those little toddlers on the streets.

How about jingle bells or Santa Claus is coming to town? LOL. Would be interesting to hear it evolve from the normal festive version, to a cappella, to heavy metal to classical to punk rock to whatever else.. ;)

candie and drummarbuah,

yeaup, i was trying to explore a cappella some weeks ago and came up with a few, silent being one of them. :)

cheez,

growing vocal chords? sounds like a profitable endeavour, if i were to open classes....LOL

I don't know about that. Singing OK. But my wife will complain I talk too much then.

I think All I want For Christmas would be a nice song to collab.

All i want for xmas... is you- andyouandyouandyou! ;)

The is you version. Hahaha.

The one Mariah Carey sang(i think)? 'I don't want a lot for xmas, there's just one thing i need...'

Here's an idea:

Well, for the Small Fry, I can't play covers of songs that are still under copyright, or I might get my ass sued off. So I've got an idea (or a challenge) for those who have a lot of time or musical talent on their hands:

Take any Christmas song that is already in the public domain, i.e. its copyright has already expired, and make your own arrangement of it. Or better yet, take the lyrics of a well-known Christmas song and re-do the melody completely!

Here's a link to a list of public domain Christmas songs: http://www.pdinfo.com/list/chrissng.htm

It might be interesting to see what comes out of this project... And yes, fantastic track, turbochicken. Loved it... :D

Smallfry, sure I can go with that. What do the others think? Should we stick to public domain?

If we go this track, Fored, sorry about White Christmas. I tried to check out it's copyright. And it is still under copyright (of Irving Berlin) - it will become public domain in the year 2037.
