You can try Remo Powerstroke 3, or Remo Pinstripe. But you'll never get the deep and solid sounds you hear on recordings, cos they are miced and processed.

solid might not be a good word to describe the sound you want cause it's a too vague.
the more popular brands are remo and evans. maybe you can go online to find out what you're looking for. they clear and coated ones should cost you less than $30. hydraulic ebony ones usually cost more

getting a thicker drumhead, or those with the extra round patch in the middle to make it 2ply should help with getting a thicker, more solid sound.
especially for practice kits, where resonance may not be the most, 2ply would be better in bringing out a more solid, focused wound.. this goes for toms as well.

For me i dun own a drum but i hv been doing research on drumskins and stuff lyk dat, so dat when a can finally get a drum, i noe how to get the sound i lyk. All the drumskins i spotted are frm Evans, but this is onli my preference:
Bass: EMAD2
Tom: EC2 (any of it, as there are 2 types of EC2s) or G2
Snare: Power centre/ Power centre reverse dot ( for a bright tone) or Genera (for a darker tone)
Take note that this all all batters, and are only my personally preference =D

You could go with:
1. Remo Ambassadors top and bottom (with moongel, if needed) for more versatility.
2. Remo Emperor batter, Diplomat resonant.
3. Evans Power Centre Reverse Dot batter, Genera Glass or Hazy 300 resonant.
I would recommend the new Evans GPlus heads, but you can't get them locally. Just installed one on my Supra.
Also, clear heads tends to be a bit brighter than coated which helps with cutting through. Bear in mind that that steel snares are brighter and already have that sharp attack.
I would actually (in your shoes) go for the Ambassador pairing and play around with the amount of moongel/tape I would require to get my sound.
Personally I prefer my drums to sound open so I go for single-ply skins. Remember that your Stagestar snare's a 13"x5" too, might not wanna muffle it that much.

Check out the durability of Attack Drum Heads!! I have been testing them out. This snare head has been on the snare for 6 weeks now and I have been playing on it 3 hours everyday....the coating is still almost intact! Best of all, it doesn't stretch out as fast as other brands....so it retains tuning superbly well!!
