Singapore’s Media sector comprises diverse subsectors in animation, broadcast, film, games, interactive digital media and publishing with a focus on building up the quality of Singapore-made content, products and services. Employment in the media industry has been growing since 2010 and reached 76,4001 in 2013.
New technologies, content platforms, distribution networks, funding models, and changing consumer habits will continue to transform the media industry. This changing landscape will mean new opportunities to grow strong enterprises, quality talent, and high-value intellectual property in the industry.
Media professionals must constantly refresh and update their skill-sets and competencies to remain flexible, adaptable and responsive to new developments and opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Singaporeans with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a media practitioner (including media freelancers)2.
Must not have completed course of study at application closing date. The course must be assessed to be of relevance to the industry. The course should also be a full-time or part-time media course in Singapore leading to a diploma, degree or post-graduate qualifications (excluding online courses)*.
Applicants must not be a previous recipient of any SkillsFuture Study Award.
*Please submit the following supporting documents to Study_Awards@mda.gov.sg:
1) Scanned coloured copy of IC (front and back);
2) Scanned photocopy of Letter of Offer/Matriculation from the institution (if any); and
3) Printed copy of information on selected course of study.
Subject to the fulfilment of the above criteria, MDA will give out the study awards to deserving candidates based on a first-come-first–served basis.
Supported Courses
Courses such as Diploma in Film, Sound and Video, Diploma in Multimedia and Animation, Bachelor of Arts in Game Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking and in areas such as data analytics, cloud computing, digitalisation and transmedia will be considered.

Evaluation Process
Evaluation of applications will take about 8 weeks after the receipt of a complete application. Shortlisted applicants will be notified.
