steve morse used a line 6 guitar on a track called "For the love of God" in the Living Loud album - check it out.

heh, the guitar swami was the joke of its day when still available in the market back then. Its one of the rare few pedals that i came across from multiple different forums where almost all who tried it, really hated it.

Some few who like it, dont use it for the sitar sound...

anyway, the sitar patch in roland guitar synth pretty workable, just for the sound.

Theres a aftermarket sitar bridge for electric guitar as well, but kinda forgot the name for it.

Theres diy pedal which is said to do sitar-ish sound, but its kinda fuzzy sounding, less of the characteristic of real sitar

and lastly, theres a digitech signature pedal for the geetarer dude from disturbed(the band), within that pedal, theres a sitar setting, which sounded quite ok.

The most painless way of getting a sitar sound on a guitar would be a Line6 Variax. The Variax electrics emulate a coral sitar sound while the Variax 700 acoustic emulates a more acoustic sounding sitar.

...you can emulate the sound but can you play it like a sitar ?? :???:

agreed. even with the coral sitar knockoff that I have, I still can't bloody do those intricate sitar phrasing... can get sound but can't play... well who cares... its all about owning the gear!
