Single Pickup to Humbuckers

The swimming pool rout is NOT a sign if cheap guitars... it doesn't rob you of tone. It DOES change tone. Even John Suhr agreed to that, its a different tone, that's it.

Does anyone know how much a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck humbucker would cost? And which shop sells it?

Duncan's JB has never been a Jeff Beck pickup. it was meant for him initially but he didn't feel comfortable with the brand association & had the manufacturer reduced it to a mere 'JB' instead. Beck currently plays Fender pickups.

the JB is $99 @ Davis...

yeah Jeff Beck uses the fender hot noiseless pups which look and sound like texas specials sgls (except pole pieces are flush) BUT is basically a stacked humbucker...they are the best sgl pups I've used thus far.... 8)

Lol, I didn't actually know if he used it or not...I only knew it was named after him...kinda of like a custom model thing...

I just went to Seymour Duncan's webby and now I'm in between JB SH-4 and SH-8 Invader...anyone can help me out here?

Lol, you shot straight in the middle of my 2 choices...yea, after hearing the SH-4 again...I thought that it sounded pretty light...

fgl, you're still having a honeymoon period with the hot noiseless. :)

Give it another or so, then re-report about it?

Reason being, that the reviews of the hot noiseless pups have been very mixed. On one hand you have people say they lack the sweetness and bell like tone of real single coils, are compressed and harsh... then there's people who rave about it....

Would like to know how they fare after the honeymoon is over. :D

really depends on your settings in entirety. throughout the years, i found out that the JB works best when your set-up is pedal-free. i simply love this humbucker for a plug-&-play tone.

i also own the DIstortion/ Invader which are drive inclined, but the JB is an all-rounder IMO.

The whole swimming pool routing thing - end of the day, try out the guitar. Do a blindfold test. There's too much stigmata on cheaper production methods, this is one of them, so there's no surprise lots of people will feel negatively for it.
