Single Pickup to Humbuckers

fgl, you're still having a honeymoon period with the hot noiseless. :)

Give it another or so, then re-report about it?

Reason being, that the reviews of the hot noiseless pups have been very mixed. On one hand you have people say they lack the sweetness and bell like tone of real single coils, are compressed and harsh... then there's people who rave about it....

Would like to know how they fare after the honeymoon is over. :D

thanx 4 yr imput. Being a texas special fan my views MITE be a bit bias but...here goes anyways...

I was using the texas specials on my" home made" alder body SRV as my main axe for more than 6 years - It really had the growl & mids etc.

After selling my No.1, I decided to do up a Bonnie Raitt model. I was keen to try out the Hot noiseless, not so much coz it's supposed to be good stuff (I def dont believe ebertinh forumites say all the tyme) but coz I wanted that fat SRVish tone like b4.Loved the tone from the day I bot them texas specials to the day I sold my SRV.

My hot noiseless pups are curretly monted on my ash body / maple top blueburst strat body with normal maple / roswood neck. I find that the pups really are smooth, clean sounding full even with the 250k pots I'm using. Of course I also use a TBX (wired for 2,3,4 position) with std tone for 1,2 pos and 5 pos - flat out. Thus far ..It's really satisfying for me.

On the flip side - true blue strat enthusiats WILL find that it's a bit FULL sounding (like the texas specials) esp if you are using alder or warmer sounding bodies. I wonder how they would sound with 500K pots though...

Anywayz this Bonnie Raitt of mine is one baby I'm NOT selling now - Its my "cari makan" axe.

My 2 cents...cheers 8)

mild thread hijack, but im thinking of putting a P90 or similar in my copy strat, to give a more round tone, and add sustain. any ideas? waste of time and money? its a swimming pool of course.

should i put it in the bridge or neck for a more(i know it wont sound the same) LP sound?

edit- im thinking of putting it in the neck position, as the bridge will just sound like fat strat?
