in my opinion, 'true' musicians who deserves every mostral of respect abide by the ethics of music. they don't need to join commercialised telly programmes to prove their worth and passion. ^^
Trust me I 100 % know what u r saying and i totally agree with it. however, c'mon this is a real world, which means that you are not allowed to share your own stuff if you dont sell yourself 1st. No matter how you are into music, can you reach a large audience if you do not commercialized. I always stand by my instinct, "be a dog before you can be a man", you have to reach a certain popularity before you can do your own music, even respect your own music. Respect needs command, you don go 1st day into the office and expect everyone listen to you, it takes time, whether fast or slow. C'mon honey, if theres no such thing as telly and radio, who the lovelovelovelove is going to know nirvana is an awesome band. What you are going to play a band in the pub a million times and expect people to give you contract deals, that doesnt happen, at least not in Singapore. I dont need to be a paris hilton or a roxanne and put on the red light, but if I can be like nirvana or radiohead who knows how to put my balance on my own values and commercializing, den y not.
Think my friend, would radiohead be successful if not for their sellout of "creep", they too are digusted by the commercialization themselves but this is a neccessity and they know it themselves.
Seriously, I do not want to make my own delicate music all day, and no one but myself is going to listen to the music all day long. What I need is to let people like me so that I can make music that I am proud of. It might take time, 8 years, 10 years mayb 20 years? But it is worth the wait if you know what I mean.
I cant agree more to your statement myself believe me, but at the same time I have to disagree myself. Life is a paradox, never to the extreme. "Omg hes such a sellout!"
PS: I dont intend to have long emo hair and hopefully my voice is not going to shatter windows.
