Singapore Idol 3

first round of audition in front of the producers.

So if you got in the audition round, don't be too happy. Either you are super good or super bad (for a good laugh).

Then you audition in front of the real judges. :)

HEHE..

What's the point of having an SG Idol 3, when the good singers gets booted out early and the bad ones always get to last long? (I'm thinking about a goon who somehow manage to last just because he looked nice with ths "emo" hairdo, but voice that could shatter windows)

You mean that androgynous Paul Twohill?

Nice meh?

in my opinion, 'true' musicians who deserves every mostral of respect abide by the ethics of music. they don't need to join commercialised telly programmes to prove their worth and passion. ^^

Trust me I 100 % know what u r saying and i totally agree with it. however, c'mon this is a real world, which means that you are not allowed to share your own stuff if you dont sell yourself 1st. No matter how you are into music, can you reach a large audience if you do not commercialized. I always stand by my instinct, "be a dog before you can be a man", you have to reach a certain popularity before you can do your own music, even respect your own music. Respect needs command, you don go 1st day into the office and expect everyone listen to you, it takes time, whether fast or slow. C'mon honey, if theres no such thing as telly and radio, who the lovelovelovelove is going to know nirvana is an awesome band. What you are going to play a band in the pub a million times and expect people to give you contract deals, that doesnt happen, at least not in Singapore. I dont need to be a paris hilton or a roxanne and put on the red light, but if I can be like nirvana or radiohead who knows how to put my balance on my own values and commercializing, den y not.

Think my friend, would radiohead be successful if not for their sellout of "creep", they too are digusted by the commercialization themselves but this is a neccessity and they know it themselves.

Seriously, I do not want to make my own delicate music all day, and no one but myself is going to listen to the music all day long. What I need is to let people like me so that I can make music that I am proud of. It might take time, 8 years, 10 years mayb 20 years? But it is worth the wait if you know what I mean.

I cant agree more to your statement myself believe me, but at the same time I have to disagree myself. Life is a paradox, never to the extreme. "Omg hes such a sellout!"

PS: I dont intend to have long emo hair and hopefully my voice is not going to shatter windows.

*coughs*
seriously. back then he couldn't sing for nuts. all the girls i knew were fawning over him cause he "looked" cool.

Me: So what about his singing?
Her: It was okay, but so-and-so did so much more better. BUT PAUL LOOKED COOL *squeals*
Me: *rolls eyeballs and sigh*

but he was in Police if I remember correctly. Still not so bad, as there is a lot less politicking then compared to army. In army you have so many clowns politicking among themselves and pulling ranks you really want to wonder why we call our army the "Decisive Force" when they just constantly bicker among themselves.

Perhaps, maybe that;s just my old unit

In my opinion, that's not really true although ideally what you say would be true.

Look at David Cook of the last American Idol, he is an excellent singer, I think the current season's Adam Lambert is a great singer and a true musician because of the way he sings, these people see Idol as a great way to boost their name so that even if they don't win, they have no problem selling albums if the masses love them. Eg Chris Daughtry

But of course practically none of the above would apply to SG unless someone of such amazing standard rocks us this season.

By the way is it just me or are all the SG Idol season finale songs written by the producers always so typically 'Singaporean' and not in a good way? Like the typical uplifting, encouraging bullshit with all the cliche hooks.

Anyone knows if they're following American Idol and allowing contestants to perform with instruments? If they are we might actually see some real talent on that show yet.

all the flak posted here will defnitly make ppl think twice to give a shot in their life to sing on national tv.haha

let me predict

winner: malay guy with short hair with RnB voice whom no one will expect to win.
runner up: chinese guy with long hair, rocker2 deep voice.
and there will be one "Hot and handsome" guy who has many female friends and he will end up hosting or acting.

Let me predict another one with 99% probability.

Winner will be male and will be holding Big Gulps at 7 Eleven ads.
Runner-up will end up no where.
Second Runner-Up will be a female who will get free weight loss endorsement.
